2 Films - One A Letdown

Saw 2 movies yesterday. One was great ( Million Dollar Baby ) & one was overrated (Sideways). The former is very good & the latter is good but not great

Closer was the best movie i have seen in a very long time.

I was also expecting to be more blown away by Sideways than I was. Eternal Sunshine remains my movie of the year, easily.

Can I add another film here? I saw "Life Aquatic" last night...I'm not sure what to say; I thought the film was really funny, but so odd. Bill Murray has grown into an amazing amazing actor.

I finally saw Sideways. I liked it, but I didn't love it. It was my idea to see the film, and of the group I was with, I liked it the least.

I was very disappointed with Closer, but that's because I love the play so much. Absolutely loved Million Dollar Baby.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I liked Closer, loved Sideways, and NEED to see a few others before Oscar nominations are announced.

I am haunted by Million Dollar Baby. The performances took my breath away.

I wouldn't go quite that far on the Million Dollar Baby front, although the performances were all top notch. The most breathtaking performance I have seen in a very long time was Imelda Staunton in Vera Drake and I am sorry she lost out to Hilary Swank.

I haven't been able to see Vera Drake yet, but I am thrilled that Imelda is getting all this attention - she's been giving stand-out performances for years.

I am also haunted by Million Dollar Baby. And while I love Imelda and I am thrilled she is getting the rcognition she deserves; I have seen her give the same kind of performance before.

I enjoyed 'Life Aquatic' overall but it had some problems. They should have gotten rid of the pirate subplot and fleshed out some of the other characters instead (Jeff Goldbum for example.) It wasn't as good as 'The Royal Tenenbaums' but I had a good time.

I didn't like 'Closer' much, except as a writing exercise to see who the audience will trust based solely on the information they put forth (the movie doesn't show any behaviors, they just talk about them.) But I wasn't blown away by any of it, although I thought Clive Owen was strong.

I haven't seen Vera Drake yet, but am a fan of Imelda Saunton and I agree she's been doing really good work for years now.

Imelda Staunton is just incred. Have followed her career for yrs in Britain . Seem lots of Brits are suddenly getting notice in North America.
