This should be a FUN year in movies. I'm very excited. EW covers the things to look forward to in 2005. And here are the movies that excite me most (in no order):

Bewitched
Batman Begins
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Memoirs of a Geisha
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe
The Producers
Rent
Brokeback Mountain
The Chronicles of Narnia
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
War of the Worlds
King Kong
The Island
Fantastic Four
Be Cool
The Ring 2
Monster-in-Law
The Dukes of Hazzard

There are other cool films--but these are the ones that interest me most right now.

I've heard some odd things about the Bewitched plot...is it going to be the story straight or is it going to be done as if the show was being cast and filmed in the 'real world'?

Sorry if that's confusing, but I am a little confused on it myself.

According to EW, the differences are that Darrin is going to be played by a comic actor (rather than as the straight man) and that the setting will be contemporary. If there are any other changes, EW doesn't go into them. But, Shirley Maclaine as Endora--that could be fun.

I remember reading that Samantha was from a planet of witches and that, posing as a human, she stars in "Bewitched" as a television series within the film.

I keep hearing terrible, terrible buzz about The Pink Panther. Will get back to you later on why but there was the longest thread on another board I frequent about the film just not being good.

I'm stoked about King Kong and Sin City. I'll see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, just because I love Tim Burton but I'm not as enraptured with either the story or the original movie as much as most other people. Updated On: 1/16/05 at 11:13 AM

Bewitched is about the filming of a television remake of Bewitched, the show. The producer hires an actual witch, Kidman, in the title role. Ferrell plays a washed-up film actor who takes the part of Darrin.

The only disapointing thing about Bewitched is that Darren is played by Will Ferrell.

But, yes, Amityvill Horror. I pray that it's better than the original. (Which should be, because they're making it closer to the book. Only Problem with that: They're claiming it's based on a true story. Don't the Producers/advertisers, etc. know that it was proven to be a hoax a few years ago?)

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Do "scary movies" actually scare you? I only pretend to be scared to amuse myself and the audience.

Lately, they haven't been. Remakes, like Dawn of the Dead or Texas Chainsaw Massacre are entertaining to me. The only thing scary about the Ring was the last five minutes.
The last movie that scared me was Blair Witch...and that was how long ago?
Oh, wait - Mothman Prophecies scared me.

Blair Witch just bored me. Scary was Final Destination... how much scarier can you get than a plane crash that kills a mother, her screaming baby and a couple dozen people in your own age group? Updated On: 1/16/05 at 01:19 PM

"Lost" is scary. In one episode, I got chills, and last weeks episode, i actually jumped.

EDIT from last post:

EDIT: It wasn't a plane crash - it exploded in midair. Scared me to the point that I almost ran out of the theater, which is what I did when I saw Arachnophobia in 1990 (literally ran out of the theater screaming with my arms extended in front of me like a cartoon character).

I can't wait to see Bewitched. I love Nicole...but I don't like Will. Batman also looks good...ooh la la Christian :)

And of course, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I've said this before...Tim's a genius. It'll be a sad day when he passes away. And every other Tim/Johnny movie has been fantastic.

I am SO EXCITED about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Douglas Adams is probably my favorite humorous author.

I'm looking forward to The Fountain if it gets released this year. The reason why should be fairly obvious. :)

Other than that, I have a morbid interest in The Fantastic Four because I have a few comic geek friends who are poised to rip it to shreds. Similarly, I can't wait to read the reactions to the Rent movie around these parts.

Of course, I'll be the one geeking out when it comes to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Narnia. And it still irks me a little that the main (Japanese) character in Memoirs of a Geisha is going to be played by a Chinese woman. It's one thing to conflate Chinese with Korean people- at least they look somewhat alike. But Japanese people are totally different. Eh. Whatever.

I know it's stupid to judge movies by their trailers, but Be Cool and Monster-in-Law look pretty disastrous right now.

Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day

It was supposed to be released in November. I'm hoping it's released in 2005.

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

Well, as long as we're judging by trailers, Charlie and the Chocolate factory looks a little too much like THE CAT IN THE HAT! Long live Gene Wilder's interpretation and the respect that everyone but Tim Burton has for it.

THESE ARE THE MOVIES I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2005:

(2) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
(3) Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
(6) The Producers [two words: uma thurman... no]
(1) Rent
(5) The Chronicles of Narnia
(7) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
(4)King Kong
[The Ring 2]... kinda

The reason why Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is so low, is although I ADORE Johnny Depp, this movie kind looks creepy. It seems like a horror movies for kinds. Anyone else see the previews? I was excited for this movie, and now I'm not so sure. I am most for Rent. Then HP, but I don't really like the new actors they chose for the 4th movie. Star Wars, which is awesome. NO ONE SAID MASK OF ZORRO. King Kong: Peter Jackson. He is just amazing, and I can't wait to see what he can do for King Kong. Chronicles: Weta workshop is helping for that movie, and they did an amazing job in LOTR.

Random question, but is anyone here a fan of Ioan Gruffudd who is in Fanastic Four?
