I'm getting really tired of the whole 57 millions Americans only voted for Bush because of religion.

After all, didn't kerry keep saying "I'm a Catholic! I was an altar boy!"

Last time I checked, wasn't Catholicism one of the few, if not the only, religion that says "You must be one of us or you are the enemy and you are going to hell." ?

Religion has less influence on politics in this country than it does anywhere else in the World.

Wrong, Rodney. America as a whole is much more influenced by religion than comparable developed nations like Japan and much of Europe. But I refuse to dismiss every person who voted for Bush as some fanatic redneck. Because I wouldn't like to be dismissed as some over-intellectual wimp who doesn't know anything about the real world.

The definition of the parties has turned over in the past century, guys. When it comes to race issues, Democrats became what Republicans were by the 1960s. The complete turnover didn't really get finished until the 80s, and even today there's some Democrats left in the South who are really Dixiecrats, aka Republicans. But in the end, the party names are just labels. It's the ideology that matters.
