FROM "OUT" MAGAZINE:
Six Network TV Shows that Really Need to Get a Gay Character
Call us hard to please, but these shows could use a little something queer.
"Far be it from us to tell executive producers what to do, but we have a few helpful suggestions that would spice up any network show—and work seamlessly into their stories..."

I totally agree with Grey's Anatomy, but not with Gilmore Girls. I don't see how a major gay character would fit in with GG. Maybe one of Rory's Yale friends? I honestly don't know.
Ooh, I'd love to see Finn come out...

I agree with Lost 100%
Ha. Yes, I madly agree with Lost.
and there are enough CSIs for ONE of them to have a gay character. Seriously.
Definitely Lost and Grey's. Perhaps the reason Alex is always so pissy is because he's gay and is forced to hide it.
Maybe a love affair between Dominic Monaghan and Matthew Fox?
And one between Patrick Dempsey and that HOTTIE on GA?
::sigh::
Call it wishful thinking, but I'll be so happy when the day comes for accurate social representation. "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy" are 2 fantastic TV shows showing almost perfect diversity statistics for America regarding RACE and GENDER.
But the generally accepted American statistic is "1 out of 10" for queers on this planet. (Something like 7 out of 10 in Britain and 9 in Portugal or something). Either way, when you've got a cast of over 20, you've BOUND to have a homo dancing in there. It's the facts! Come on, they've got to be getting lonely on that island, someone on "Lost" had better make a switch to get some lovin'!
I thought someone from GG in Yale was already gay?

Are we to believe that Taylor Dosie of Star's Hollow is not gay?
Honestly, I don't know about Lost. It's just, the cast of character is extremely finite. It's not like they can just have a gay character move in next door or something. And with all the backstories that they've already shown, nothing hinting at it has come up yet. Some character randomly coming out at this point will just be seen as a this obvious ditch attempt to win brownie points.
There are plenty of characters who we know nothing about their sexual orientation on Lost--not to mention the possibility that any of the characters are bisexual.
I always wondered about Michele on Gilmore Girls...

OrangeSkittles- There is always Frogurt guy we heard about last episode!
Sorry, I didn't explain myself better. I think it'd be great if someone on the show just happened to be gay. I just read that and had these images of Very Special Episodes of Locke's coming out story and got scared. I'm really picky about TV, and I think Lost is one of the best written shows out there, so it's more that I'm worried about any potential shark-jumping.
here's my thoughts:
"Will and Grace" (where's the gay characters???)
"I Love Lucy"
"Law and Order: SVU" (c'mon Meloni is divorced, he needs to experiment)
any show about young people in college or just out of college, but NOT "the OC"
"American Idol"
well, orange, that assumes that to have a gay character, there has to be an "afterschool special" aspect to it. And there doesn't, does there? Characters can just be.
That's why I said that it'd be great if a character "just happened to be gay," without the afterschool special aspects. Unfortunately in practice, very few shows that I've seen have been able to accomplish that successfully.

Check out Oz.
Oz--a great example of characters just being.
True, it's on my "very few" list.
I think Beecher was the only character to ever actually come out on that show. I probably shouldn't have laughed at that scene, but it was just such horrible timing.

umm, anyone else want Greg on CSI to be the resident 'mo?
I think on lost we need some.

No mention of EYEWITNESS NEWS? Almost every man on air is gay: Charles Perez, Sam Champion, Steve Bartlestein and a whole bunch of others.
Well, Grey's Anatomy does have Joe the bartender, like that article said. And when he brought his boyfriend to Thanksgiving it was no big deal.
There were rumors that one character was going to turn out to be bi, but I don't know if that is still happening.
