Ugh I just want the discs, and presumably the single disc version will be lacking some of the special features found on the three disc set. I really really want the bonus features, but I also really really don't want to buy an umbrella. Hopefully there will be an exclusive somewhere like how Target did for "The Wizard of Oz."

These box sets are so over the top sometimes. I joked about the West Side Story box in another thread that included Chino's pistol and Anita's Black Orchid perfume bottle, but it's not far from the truth.

I chuckled at that joke when I saw it a week or so ago besty.

I'm with you in that all I want is the movie and commentaries.

Plus, I don't have room for all these massive sets.

But it's a nice gift for someone who loves this movie, and they are choosing well in terms of which films they give the DELUXE treatment.

At least they give you options to buy other versions.

But I agree, you shouldn't have to buy an umbrella just to get the extra disc features.

I'm finding that I watch those extras less and less now anyway. Usually, I watch them once, if they're included, and never again.

But I put on the movie more than once (which is why I buy it).

... and that's coming from someone who used to work on DVD extras. In fact, I worked on the last 2-disc DVD release of "Singin' in the Rain."
