...for carrying an "offensive sign." What did it say? Oh, you need to see it for yourself.

Well, I guess she certainly learned the meaning of "Shhh!"

It was a political rally in on public property as I understand it. That being the case, she should initiate legal action in federal court against all the parties whom conspired to have her evicted.

I wonder what the ACLU's take on this is.

So "McCain = Bush" is offensive?

I guess it depends on which Bush McCain is being compared to. It isn't like these guys have a problem with Bushes or bushes of any kind. Indeed, a fondness for Bush/bush seems to be an essential part of being a Republican.

Is there now an anti-shrubbery/foliage/pubic hair branch of the Republican party?

It will be an interesting convention- McCain needs to distance himself from Bush's incompetence but they will need to celebrate his 8 years in the presidency. I can't imagine how they will do both.

They'll do it the way they celebrated Jesse Helms' career of racism and hatred. They'll find all kinds of fascinating euphemisms for it. The Convention should be a real laughfest.

I have the same question as the librarian... why is this offensive to Republicans?

Because they want to try to make the average voter forget that the Republicans have been responsible for these 8 horrible years.

I heard a McCain speech the other day. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was the outsider who wanted to go clean up the mess that "those guys" have created.

Perception. Perception. Perception.

It's all about managing perception... for all sides, of course.

Did you catch this video of the High School kid asking him about his age?

I love McCain's reaction:

"Thanks for the question you little jerk. Draft him!"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=F2zx3-0zOPs

Classy reaction.

McCain has a pair of turtles named Cuff and Link. He can't even find original names for his pets, how's he going to distance himself from decades of Republican horror?

were any signs allowed at the event? is there footage from the event itself to determine whether any outside signs were allowed in?

Apparently signs reading "papalovesmambo is an irrelevant apologist for the last eight years" were disallowed.

i saw one that said "roquat's obsession with papalovesmambo makes him almost as pathetic as the fenchurch mpd collective" but the person holding that one was secret service.

There's something that scares me about the video that JoeKv99 linked. If this were in Eastern Europe I'd say that McCain wanted to be a dictator and seems to want to do to the country what Lukashenko did to Belarus - turn it into totalitarian state. But I thought America valued Democracy, personal freedom and freedom of expression.

In the second video linked by BigFatBlonde it just seemed like McCain was making a good joke and showing his sense of humor. That first video did not look like a joke.

Shouldn't McCain be more concerned about the disorganization and infighting rife in his campaign?

yeah, because i heard he was sitting upstairs with a pair of ball bearings in his hand watching the crowds outside through a telescope and personally choosing who got in and who didn't while muttering about stolen strawberries.

It's important for a President to be concerned about National Interests and American property. Ball bearings represent the American worker and American industry. Strawberries are important American crops that must be guarded with the best chemical pesticides, fungicides, and fertilized with the best sewage sludge America has to offer.

I like the dude in the caterpillar costume.

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

KrissySim, I actually thought the same thing too, at first.

It was the "Draft Him" remark that eventually made me uncomfortable.

I don't know about you, but with the bodies piling up... drafting our children isn't very funny.

To me, there was something very menacing about exacting revenge on high school kid because of the immature way he asked a question.

Even if only in "jest."

You have a point. But my video for some reason cut out at the end and I didn't hear or see the last bit. Looks like I missed something.
