As a taxpayer...it costs more to put an inmate to death than it does to house them for life.

^true. i questionned this when i saw the national geographic special Angola Prison in Louisiana. There was a spot where the Warden was going through the costs that are spent on supplies, food, medical care, and a few extras per prisoner per year. now, 89% of their prisoners are serving natural life and there are some death row cases too. so if it costs say 15- 20 grand a year for one person (min.) some way more due to free medical. mulitplied by 50 years or so. and then multiply that by the number of prisoners, the math doesn't add up. how much is it to put ONE person to death? if it is 600,000- 800,000, I wonder why so much. maybe because they are adding their 15 years or so spent in prison before the death sentence is carried out? in Louisiana anyway, the prisoners have to pay for a lot of their own appeals or paper work they want. it's a very interesting documentary

well she (her lawyers) can use the defense, but she was not found to be insane from what i have seen. if she was, she would be put in a hospital and not prison. she was lucid, in control, and her looking for a place to kill her kids so she planned it. the charges were murder, but not capital murder. don't know why the DA or crown prosecutor accepted that. that is still in debate even a year on.

I stumbled upon a clip of Nancy Grace interviewing the husband. The way she kept needling him about how unbelievably horrific and awful the murder was and how she couldn't possibly imagine going through all that herself, I just wanted to kick her in the head. The bitch was not going to quit until she saw TEARS running down his face, dammit! I shut it off to see whether or not she was successful. I was more interested in the case than her stupid histrionics.
