Deborah Jeter committed this horrific act in June of last year but the audio was just released.
and...they allowed her to cop a plea which gives her life instead of death.
Possibly the most horrific 911 call ever heard in the Ark-La-Tex area. (News Video and 911 Audio Below)
A Texas woman will spend her life in prison after slashing the throats of her children.
Debra Jeter lured her kids into an abandoned house and slit their throats, then listened to one of her kids beg for help while bleeding to death.
Just one day before one of her kids posted on their Facebook page: “I get to see my mom tomorrow! Yay!”
The next day she is dead, killed by her mother.
A nine-minute 9-1-1 tape released Wednesday begins with an eerily apathetic Debra Janelle Jeter. (911 link below)
“I just killed my children,” the 33-year-old told a Hill County dispatcher.
“Excuse me?” said the woman on the other end, with a tone of disbelief and shock.
Jeter, again, sounded blank when she repeated, “I just killed my children.”

I'm not sure I can listen to that.
Saw this on Nancy Grace last night. Very chilling.
Omg my heart was racing listening to that, beyond disturbing.
I don't get why they release these calls ... and why we are so drawn to listening to them. I almost clicked on the link ... but not going to as it will completely mess with my head.
I can't think of a single reason to listen to such a thing.
Me either Reg. I think it would really upset me.

I don't understand the release of the calls or the desire to listen to them.
I have no need to listen to that call. Why do they release these things? What is the fvcking point? Ratings?!! Web Hits?!!! What kind of a judicial system do we have that allows this heinous b!tch to cop a plea after brutally murdering her children. She's a fvcking animal and should be treated as one. No mercy.

It wasn't until recently that these calls were released. Back in the day, the only 911 Emergency calls you could hear were during those old rescue shows a la Rescue 911.
I'm with you Stock.
I wonder why they started releasing them anyway though, what started it?
Aside from Psych research, why does the average Joe on the web need this?

Imagine being the 911 operator and getting that type of phone call.
I don't see the need for releasing or listening to this. Or for posting it here to begin with.

I can't bring myself to click on the link either.
Part of me now is wishing I hadn't seen the thread or clicked on it, to be honest. It's pretty much impossible for me to even fathom how what I consider normal protective parental instincts can go so perversely the other direction that someone would kill their own children. I can't even go there...

me too and fwiw for those who are judging the posting, i don't make a habit of listening to this stuff all day, every day. it happened to come on and i heard it...i wanted to know the punishment this woman received and was angered that she was able to plea for life instead of getting death. i was also jarred by her non chalant voice about the whole thing. i probably shouldn't have posted this in retrospect and meant no disrespect whatsoever.

Piper, I don't think anyone can judge you for posting it. I mean this stuff is in the news. Sometimes harsh reality is tough to deal with. I don't know that being ignorant of such things happening is the answer either, as much as I may wish I were. It's just so disturbing to think about on one hand, but on the other, maybe it's therapeutic for those of us who are beyond appalled by it to vent our frustrations together.
I'm glad she got life instead of death. I am 100% against the death penalty for many reasons. No exceptions whatsoever. However I do think she should be given a full hysterectomy while wide awake and not numbed at all, and then locked in solitary confinement for the rest of her natural life.
I can't think of a single reason to post this....
As disturbing as I found the tape, I also found it interesting to hear how her state of mind seemed to change while talking on the phone. I am sure this call was one of the reasons she was given life instead of capital punishment
I thought the opposite. She showed complete sociopathy and control. It (to me) was clearly to get revenge on her husband and hurt him. Showing sociopathic tendancies doesn't mean insane. I am still baffled by the plea deal.
update- husband was interviewed and spoke about his surviving daughter being happy and full of life a year on. also... apparently his wife was planning to kill him as well.
I think life in prison without parole is a much crueler fate. Child killers are never treated well by other inmates or guards.
And at some point she will probably realize what she has done and have to live with that. That will be the cruelest fate of all.
"update- husband was interviewed and spoke about his surviving daughter being happy and full of life a year on. also... apparently his wife was planning to kill him as well."
If it was all premeditated murder, how could she plea insanity?
"I think life in prison without parole is a much crueler fate. Child killers are never treated well by other inmates or guards. "
but with the appelet process taking up to 15 years, she could have both. i loathe as a tax payer, seeing people getting three squares, tv, education, treats in prison. also, some child killers are protected or those like the ones (teens) who killed Shanda Sharer are treated celebrity like and so was Karkla Hamolka.
I am glad she will be away forever, regardless. I am pretty certain if she is in the general population, she will be taken care of. I work with abused children (now part time) and am a huge advocate and on a board to change laws both here and abroad. My post was not coming from a deviant place at all (re: comments about not understanding the post) and thanks to Jbarfan.
Personally, although hard to believe, I have seen cases that are as bad, if not worse, if possible. By worse I mean months and months of torture where babies are left in homes and when they succumb to their frightening, horrific existance some of the parents get an inappropriate shorter sentence. Also, I have seen Dr's and workers send kids home. It gets very hard. Sometimes, you have to say to yourself "i helped saved one"
