Posted: 11/10/08 at 1:17pmI've never been in there. I keep saying I'm going to go check it out, and I never get around to it.

Posted: 11/10/08 at 1:24pmWe were shopping for a sofa but didn't have a ton of money. We'd seen a leather sofa we liked that was $800. We saw a Big Lots ad that looked similar and went to check it out. It was the same sofa only $400. Turns out, they had a floor model that had very minor damage that was marked down to $299. We bought it and fixed the problem in about 3 minutes when we got it home.

Big Lots has a lot of crap, but they get some great deals if you are willing to look. I love it when they get the Pier One closeouts. I got beautiful silk throw pillows for like $5 each. They have 500-600 thread count sheets for around $50. LOVE it.
The Dollar Tree has some great stuff. They had some beautiful glass goblets that I hand painted and gave as gifts one year.

There was a Big Lots where I went to college. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
Now, the junk store to top all junk stores is Odd Lot. That I think is its own thing, and again, near where I went to college. My friends and I would go in there and probably spent an hour or so buying junk. It was always fun though. I got a really funny shot glass there, and my friends bought supplies to make a funnel. Yes, we were such alcoholics.

In the UK we have Poundland and Pound Store (I bet it took the marketing people a long while to come up with that. My local area is awash with them. Anyway, I bought some wash up liquid in there a few weeks ago and later in the week saw the exact same product in ASDA(aka Wall Mart)for 86p. So I complained to the Poundland manager next time I was in there and he looked at me as if I had been released from a secure unit.
So I swished my £1 cashmere pashmena over my shoulder and left, almost dropped my shoplifted tuna steaks in spring water!

Marianne, aren't all college kids alcoholics? LOL!
I love the way Hulmeman says "wash up liquid". I have a friend from England and that's what she says. My mom lives in Ireland part of the year, and the kind she has over there says "Washing Up Liquid"

Well now we all know where Corine has been purchasing the outfits that she's been claiming were Ann Klein creations.
Sad. Terribly sad.
