In 2011 The American Cinematheque and the Aero Theater hosted a screening of a pristine new black and white print of A HATFUL OF RAIN.
On March 30th, the American Cinematheque and the Aero Theatre hosted a rare screening of Fred Zinnemann’s searing 1957 drama A Hatful of Rain. Co-starring Oscar winner Eva Marie Saint (On the Waterfront) and Oscar nominee Don Murray from (Bus Stop), the rarely-screened film, tells the heartbreaking story of Celia and Johnny, a young couple scraping by in 1950s Brooklyn. Johnny has recently returned home from the Korean War where the horrors of battle proved to be so overwhelming that he developed a severe addiction to heroin. As Johnny attempts to keep his dark secret from Celia and his own father (a terrific Lloyd Nolan), his enabling brother Polo (Anthony Franciosa, who received an Oscar nomination for his memorable role) professes his deep feelings for Celia. As moderator Foster Hirsch said in his introduction, the film is heavy to be sure, but not overbearing and pretentious, and certainly not without its moments of humor.
Afterwards there was a panel discussion with stars Don Murray and Eva Marie Saint moderated by Foster Hirsch.

Nope. Not a pan and scan "bootleg". It's a release that's part of the new Fox Screen Archives Movies On Demand Series. The DVD is manufactured by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
The image is in it's original aspect ratio. It was shot in CinemaScope. It's a legit release.

@ Roscoe. Are you talking about the 1961 version of A VIEW TO A BRIDGE with Raf Vallone and Carol Lawrence?
I think someone posted the whole movie on YouTube, that's how I got to see it...and it was a very good film.
It would be nice to have an official release of it.
