A letter to the editor in a local NYC paper

"While the death of Sheehan's son is a tragedy, during the same period , 1900 Americans were killed in Iraq doing what they voluntarily signed up for, more than 30,000 Americans were killed in drunken driving related accidents & many of the victims were not drinking. Will Sheehan & the others be protesting outside bars ? Will the Rev Al also be attempting to stop the black-on-black violence that kills far more blacks in our own cities that war ever will?. I doubt it, being, of course, that there is no underlying politcal agenda there"

A cartoon showed a reported speaking to Cindy S saying " What did Casey Think About The War": Her reply: "What does that have to do with it"

Of course Cindy Sheehan is not going to protest drunk driving - her son wasn't killed by a drunk driver. I am sure that she acknowledges that there are many needless deaths that occur, but this particular topic has touched her personally and therefore it is logical for her to respond to it.

There is no way of knowing if her son is embarassed by his mother's actions or not. I want to believe that if he could see her from the dead, he would be proud of his mother. He would be peoud that she turned her pain into something so positive and uplifting. Giving everyone who hates this illegal invasion a voice.
