The Passion of the Christ was quite awful, to me at least, but Apocalypto looks to be a rather enjoyable cinematic souffle. The ending shot of the teaser trailer (located above), in particular, gave me goose pimples and then made THEM shiver with antici.......pation! Anyone else looking forward to this?

No.
Not in the least.
I think I would rather have a full body cavity search.

No, sorry. I have to wash my taint that night.
Also, if you ever utter a statement like this in college: "The Passion of the Christ was quite awful, to me at least, but Apocalypto looks to be a rather enjoyable cinematic souffle," you are going to be laughed out on your ass. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I'm sure this will be the most successful subtitled film with all Mayan dialogue ever made. I hear Mayans are already lining up to see it.

I understand where you guys are coming from but, ultimately, cinematography of this quality cannot be idly passed upon by me. I shall definitely be there.

LOL! I might have considered seeing it but why couldn't it be in English? I think Mel is getting too self-indulgent. It might be a beautiful looking film, but the Mayan dialogue is a real turn-off for me.

The feathers dude looks hot.
I'll probably see it eventually.
Are you by any chance part Indian/Native American, Cruel, if your avatar is you?

I refuse to see another Tom Cruise movie too, but that's just because he's a douchebag.

Well I haven't seen The Passion of the Christ yet, so I'm not rushing.
I'll probably get around to this one in two to five years on a rental if there was some apreciation of it.

NOM: The avatar is indeed me but I'm not Native American. I actually, and somewhat ironically given the mind behind Apocalypto, have been bred from Jewish stock.
As for Gibson himself, his anti-Semitism, homophobia, and mysogyny are his own problems and not mine and thus do not impair my viewing experience. I may not like him but I do like his art (Passion of the Christ notwithstanding) and that, my friends, is all that really matters.
But I'm not knocking anyone who isn't seeing this movie for that reason because you definitely have the right too and it's quite cool of you to exercise that right. More power to you.

except by spouting his hate, he makes it everyone's problem.
The film went from having potential Oscar chances to having 0 Oscar chances.
Cruel, I can respect your separating the man's personal ills from his art, but I, too, can't bring myself to give him my money.
It will be fascinating to see how the critics address this film--if it's a masterpiece that is. If it's crap, they'll be let off the hook.

Wow, my attention shifted from Apocalypto to Snakes on a Plane pretty damn quick. Crazy, man...

I definitely won't be seeing it. Don't want my money going into Mel's pockets.

Leni Riefenstahl, is that you?
just as I would NOT go to a Hitler art exhibit, I will also not see this.
I will not support someone whos views I find offensive.
No. Mostly because it looks awful. The trailer induced more eye-rolling than the silly Snakes on a Plane trailer.
I wonder when Gibson's Sanskrit and Ge'ez films are being released...
"As for Gibson himself, his anti-Semitism, homophobia, and mysogyny are his own problems and not mine"
really? Hmmm, what is that old saying, something like First they came for the Jews, and I said nothing........Then they came for me."
It is everyones problem cruel. I cannot support hatred in any way. Jews, Armenians, and many, many other groups died because people thought it was not their problem........Gays are constantly bashed because people feel it's not their problem.
Seeing his movie puts money in his pocket.

I saw the trailer long before this latest Mel-mess and asked myself, "WHO is going to see this?"
What was in his head when this film was conceived? At least The Passion had a "star name" (that would be JC) in the title, but "Apocolypto"? It sounds like a forgotten dance (lambada, anyone?) or a cough drop meant to wipe out any ailment in your body.
On the other hand, it seems to be his money and he can do anything with it he wants.
Honestly. I don't know whose threads are more inane: yours or FictionWriter's.

I think it sounds more like a nightclub in southwest Houston. Right down the street from Coco Loco.
