Any thought to waiting in your car at her driveway and gunning it as she exits her door. Just saying ... but then, why ruin a perfectly nice car on her.

If it was my dog...she'd be sleeping with the fishes right about now.....just saying.

How can...unthinkable.

I admire you so much for actually delivering that letter. And just for doing the right thing, which some people may not have done. I'm so glad that the poor dog didn't have to suffer any more than it needed to. I think you deserve the title of "Hero" for doing such a selfless thing. Bravo.

SG - nice thoughts, but 'hero' is a bit of an overstatement (I'm serious, a 'hero' wouldn't have blubbered like I did - it would have been much more 'white hat and noble' kind of thing re: A letter to my neighbor.) I'll settle for good samaritan and hope I don't have to do it again!

d- if ever my dog was hit by a car and you came to my door in tears after doing everything in your power to help him, i would be comforted to know that at least when he died he was with someone who obviously has a lot of love and compassion in his heart.

You're an angel, DG. Have you ever had any interaction with this murderer before?

bgirl - if so, this angel has slightly dirty wings and a VERY tarnished halo re: A letter to my neighbor. And no, I haven't ever interacted with her, I just know who she is and which house she lives in. We're in one of those neighborhoods where people have been here for awhile, but rarely interact.

Come to think of it, that's probably one of the primary sources of the problem . . .

DG I thnk everyone here has wings and halos that could use a polishing. But you my friend have earned many points in the eyes of heaven.
You get the cookie platter today!

D,
You are a stronger person than me. I would have waited for her to come home and probably been arrested for punching her in the face after confronting her directly.
Inner peace, I lack.

I'm with C on this one. I can't tolerate the actions of some people....and what this "thing" did is unforgiveable. I'm glad DG you let her know that you saw all and what she did....now let's see what she does with this knowledge.

Unfortuantely, we are literally not going to be here at all this weekend. I had wanted to go to her house with the kids, but won't be able to. I'm sure I'll find out where things stand when we get back, though.

Another thing that makes me a bit of a wimp: I didn't sign my name to the letter. Since we're not going to be here much this weekend, I didn't want to leave our home vulnerable. She might know who I am just by the car I was driving, but she doesn't impress me os the observational type - obviously.

You're not a wimp in the least! It took courage to do any of what you did at all! You are wonderful and amazing, so don't call yourself names.

Yes Sir/Ma'am re: A letter to my neighbor.

I think I'll save this thread and pull it out when my ego needs a boost - or when I've been less than angelic and need a reminder!

Do you know the ages of the kids who lost the dog, and not that it matters, "her" approximate age?

On the other hand, part of me is upset, because I tend to drive recklessly at times (very rare now, but I am prone to road rage on the odd occasion). I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had been beind the wheel and created this accident.

I only hope that she freaked out, and is now severely regretting her decision to cut and run. I have no trouble believing that she's not an evil person who is enjoying this, or did it on purpose...

We don't always make the right decisions in life when thrust in stressful situations. But I hope that the element of regret and apology is there.

i agree, keaton. i'd like to think i would do the right thing but being a dog owner myself i also know how hard of a thing it would be to tell someone i just ran over (and later killed) their dog.
