Here's a list of upcoming protests (many today!) for those of you radicals who want to be sure the queers in the land of fruits and nuts can get their weddings on.
Prop 8 protests and rallies

Is it irony that I'm working for this when I've never come close to finding someone who'd want to me marry me? Does that make me some sort of gay martyr?
North Hollywood
Rally in the Valley 4pm
Intersection of Laurel Canyon
Laurel Canyon and what??? I'm assuming Ventura?
Oh, Phyllis, why do you say that? Are you that much of a bitch?

You have to die to be a martyr, Phyllis. This just makes you a virgin saint.

No, I was just kidding. Do you think maybe you could pull that stick out of your ass for a while?
ETA - And yes, I suppose I am that much of a bitch.

Alexis Smith would never settle for being A bitch.
She'd say, Work hard, and you can be THE bitch.

Remember, Queen Tina Fey said "bitch is the new black" so you can close the black/gay/prop 8 divide right here, Phyl.

Well, the cute little pocket lesbian I met last night didn't think I was a bitch. She thought I was a hoot!
I saw a sign last night that said, "I'm black and I don't support Prop 8!"
If were really a bitch I wouldn't have spent so much time talking to the Revolution Books guy, who apparently writes some sort of communist newspaper. I coulda been trying to get on camera!
Perhaps worse than "Pedophile!" and "Abomination!" because of it's alleged sincerity and self perceived fairness, etc:
"You don't get it! Californians did not vote for Prop 8 in order to take a right away from a group. Californians voted for Prop 8 to protect the institution of marriage. You aren't listening. You are so intent on telling me, and others, why we voted the way we did, that you fail to try to understand why we voted the way we did. Listen!
Further, there is not "right" to marry. Where did you get that from?
I am not pretending. I did not vote to take away rights. When trying to understand the result of an election, you need to understand why people voted the way they did. That is why Political Scientists do exit polls. You are not listening to what the people are saying. You are merely assuming that you know what they think, when you do not.
This never has been and never will be about rights. And stop pretending that it is. When you do, then perhaps you will understand why Prop 8 passed.
...
This was not a vote for or against civil rights. Please do not compare this to interracial marriage, there is absolutely no comparison. Peraonally, I think that is a slap in the face for the Civil Rights movemant.
You will continue to be made, until you stop and try to understand.
Understanding brings tolerance. Understanding brings compassion. Understanding brings knowledge. Try it.
...
You are equal. Until you understand that, you will always be angry and you will always find a problem with America. Democracy has spoken. Now live with it. Understand it."
He's right about one thing: I am angry. And I'm going to channel that anger into activism. Into donations. Into protest. Into fighting for my rights. Into taking a stand for what I know is fair and just and a part of the fulfilling of this collective American dream.
Go be seen and heard!

Apologies, I should have stated that. These are from some email exchanges on YouTube.
A lot of the time, I just ignore these kinds of comments and emails. But sometimes I engage them. Some would say that's futile, but I believe that engaging people can be possibly one step in MANY towards their seeing the light. Breaking them down however much. Certainly in showing them that I am not afraid of them. Or ashamed of who I am.
And, believe it or not, I've actually taken 2 people from "Fag!" to heated debate to respectful dialogue to maybe just maybe seeing the truth. I even had a guy who had been nasty to me on my vids with the homophobia email me months later to apologize. Out of the blue. It was cool.
I think some people are simply ignorant. And if you put the facts in front of them, they start to see truth from the BS and hate.
That's one part of my activism--one on one grassroots, if you will.
And sometimes, it just feels good to decimate hate and lies!

I also want to add that the rally I attended last night was originally just supposed to be about Dobson, but the events of the past week brought out a lot more people than I think were expected, and while it was a clusterfrick of information, there were rants about sexism, racism, religion, etc. It was about equal rights for all.
I wish I'd gotten a picture of one sign that I loved that said "Is Jesus proud of you NOW?"
Nice! This should be inclusive of it all.
And exactly why we can not fight bigotry with bigotry. We need to rise above it all and embrace the incredible diversity of our community, which includes our straight allies.
