For those of you in love with Katie Finneran's somewhat overrated perf in Pro, Pro, check out this link of Marian Mercer, the grand lady who originated the role in 1968, and won a Tony.

Ms. Mercer is apparently not in good health so positive thoughts are sent her way. Her dry wit is missed. She would have been a natural in any of the Christopher Guest films.

I became a fan of Marian Mercer when she was on It's A Living as restaurant hostess "Nancy Beebee". She's wonderful. Sad to hear she's not in good health. Sending positive thoughts her way as well.

I've heard her performance in PROMISES and she was so hilarious. Katie Finneran on the other hand was just so over the top that it was like being assaulted with a sledgehammer.

This revival of PROMISES should have taken place 13 years ago with a transfer of the far superior 1997 City Center staging that was directed and choreographed by Rob Marshall and starred Martin Short, Kerry O'Malley, Terrence Mann, Christine Baranski and Dick LaTessa.

I got to work with her once on a TV pilot that went no where, but she was a doll.

Positive thoughts heading her way.

If and when Katie wins the Tony it would be nice if she gave MM a shout. Assuming that she has heard of her. . .

Ms. Mercer would have been brilliant in "Waiting for Guffman" or "Election" with her dry wit.

Marian was great as Mrs. Hart in the "9 to 5" movie.

Yes, she's probably never heard of her.
