When I was a little kid, I can remember that my grandma would get upset over what was going on in her favorite soap operas (what she called her "stories"), to the point that she might call my mother (her daughter) on the phone all upset over some man leaving his wife or something, and it would take my mother a minute to catch on that it was just some stupid tv show grandma was carrying on about.
