This week ends season 27. Season 28 will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and the show will move to a new studio on Hudson Square. Disney owns this new 22-story building. All six co-hosts are returning.

Where did the old "The View" thread go?
Was wondering why Alyssa "was out" today. She's Lebanese though, so I wonder if she had family or something that maybe were affected by the retaliation for the Lebanon/Hezbollah terrorist attack that killed several children on Saturday.

Not sure. I searched and it's gone. Sunny was out on Monday, or it's just due to them taking a day off this final week?

Can’t not wait to see the new studio and congrats on 27 seasons and congrats on another season TWENTY EIGHT!!!!??? Yay!!!
The show's not going anywhere. However, everyone's contract outside of Whoopi is up after this season. Rumors are going around that Sunny won't be back. If Harris wins the election, Joy may finally retire.
Overall, Season 28 was a rather uneven season. It started off with a bang (Harris had just become the Dem candidate), and is going out on a fizzle. The highlight of the season - and for Election 2024 - is when Sunny became the 'October Surprise' for Harris. Yes, that fateful October day when Sunny asked 'the question' which torpedoed Harris' campaign (and any chance of winning the election). The Trump campaign had a field day with that, and featured Sunny's close-up in his campaign ads. Sunny, you handed him the election on a silver platter. MAGA, I'm sure, thanks you.
For days after the election, the women sat shiva, dressed in black with mournful looks - especially Sunny. It became a chore to watch the show for the final weeks before Christmas vacation. The new year came, they returned and the show drags on and on and on.
Over the Christmas break Sunny's husband was sued by the Feds for Medical insurance fraud, on behalf of the insurance company American Transit, which no one discussed at Hot Topics. One thing Sunny taught us with the Feds in the Trump trials - when the Feds bring suits against you, they are 99.99% foolproof and the Feds are going to win.
So the six women have their contracts up for renewal this summer. Will they all return ? Joy will be 83 soon after the new season starts. She doesn't seem as mobile as she once was (Sara usually walks out with her, holding her arm, and helping her to her seat). It will be interesting to see if she returns. Will Alyssa hang on, or move permanently to CNN where she shines brighter at their political round tables ? Will Sunny return, or take time off to 'be with her husband' while he figures out his legal troubles ? Will Whoopi finally walk like she has promised to at the end of other contracts ? Time will tell.
The View is still the top rated daytime TV talk show. However, I think they need to shake things up a little. Wouldn't be surprised if Joy retires. Whoopi needs the paycheck. Sunny can go away. Ana is only there to cover when Whoopi is out on Fridays and Joy is out on Mondays. At this point I'm surprised there haven't been rumblings of someone not returning.
