"Little" Newfoundland worrell? LOL! Just kidding. I love Newfies. They're great because they are big dogs that think they're itty-bitty puppies! My neighbor has one. He's a big, solid, fluffy dog, and he's a big softie. He tries ot "sit" in everyone's lap. Oof! Great dogs. I'm glad to hear your new one is adjusting. I love adoption stories...

He is adjusting well. He's teething right now so when we pet him and stuff, he might start biting. He only has two modes, extremely hyper and starts running and jumping and then he slows down and just fall asleep. My sister walked him once and he fell asleep right there, so she had to carry him home.

At this stage, he's fine to have in the lap, but once he gets older, unless you have a stainless steel lap, he ain't going on the lap. Newfies are really fluffy and sweet.

I went looking for this commercial on YouTube and ended up seeing a very sad documentary from the Las Vegas ASPCA. It interviewed workers in it's facilities who were responsible for putting down the animals that they take in who owners do not pick up or people do not adopt.It seems they take in 130 animals on any given day!
The workers at various times were in tears and so was I by the end of the video. I cannot adopt any more dogs, I already have two in a NYC apartment, so I did the next best thing, I donated money to Bide a Wee who intervenes and rescues animals from various shelters.

i haven't seen it yet... i'm surprised beacuse i watch animal planet all the time.
those comercials from pedigree get to me though. my almost 15 year old yellow lab, molly, was a shelter dog many many years ago. and the half black lab half irish setter we had before her, mindy, was a rescue too.
all three of our cats were rescues, as were 5 of the rabbits we've had over the years and 2 of the birds we have now.
i'm sure it's fun to walk into a pet store and walk out with a cute little (and probably too young) puppy, but there are so many dogs and cats and other animals out there in shelters just waiting for someone to bring them home and love them.
