Ok, it made me cry. Anyone else see it? I joined the ASPCA after I saw it.
I'm at the point where I have to change the channel the second it comes on or I'm a wreck.
I do the same thing.
I haven't seen it. can you describe it?
Ho Boy! I found the video on-line and I am a total wreck now!
I went the ASPCA website and the site that must not be named and could not find it. Where is it?
It is the SADDEST commercial ever made. Although very smart of the SPCA to focus on the reality of abused animals. No sugarcoating. Good for Sarah MacLachlan for lending her song and her fame. Bless you Miss Sarah. I am already an SPCA member and cry everytime I see that PSA. I have to turn it off now when it comes on. Too sad.
If it's anything like the ones they run here, then it must be heart wrenching.
"My names Oliver. I don't know why I'm here. I know I'm a good dog. I hope somebody will come be my friend."
And they show a dog in a cage at a ratty animal shelter. The dog sitting and looking through the bars.
Just terribly sad (and manipulating, but for a good cause).
oh god, I saw it on THE SITE. I should have known better. I thought it was sad as in Hallmark Card commercial sad. I did not expect that. I'm literally crying at my desk.
Haven't seen this one yet, but the Pedigree Adoption Drive commercials get me every time.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.

thanks SM2. My mascara's running.
"My names Oliver. I don't know why I'm here. I know I'm a good dog. I hope somebody will come be my friend."
Augh! That one breaks my heart!!!!
Also the dog food maker's commercial about adopting a dog from a shelter - everyone of the dogs in that spot is a heart breaker. I'm crying a little just typing this...

it's a tough one..those poor babies. I get so angry at people for abusing animals. So many end up in shelters because the owners can't or don't want to care for them anymore.
Animals are like children..they are a lifelong commitment. My dogs ARE my shildren and they are my responsibilty until they day they pass away in my arms.
I have to turn the channel immediately cause I just can't take it
I was watching Animal Cops when I first saw it. Animal Cops paired with this ad is pretty crushing. And I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Sarah McLachlan writes the absolutel saddest songs in existence.
The Pedigree ad kills me too. Just for the line "I don't know why I'm here, but I know I'm a good dog." It reminds me of the opeing pound scene in Lady and the Tramp. Which still destroys me, even at the age of 22.

Oh boy. All these commercials make me cry.
Both my cats are adopted from the local SPCA. They're the best kids anyone could ask for!

I feel the same way. We almost felt as though we had to get rid of one of our Corgis since he was getting aggressive with the older male, but we just couldn't do it. So we made some changes around the house (we keep them separated now), as well as trying some mild medication (for the dog, not us!), some holistic remedies, and doggie daycare....the results have been incredible!
Good for you, WindyCity. I wish more people thought like that. Perhaps if more people see things like The Dog Whisperer and see that it's useally not the dog's fault- it's the human's- they'll be less likely to just dump it off somewhere. Like it's something you can give back. "I rehibilitate dogs. I train people." Oh and yes... the afermentioned commercials make me cry as well.
Ahhhhh, Yes, I do love animal lovers.
Thank you all for adding the exclamation point(!)to this commercial.
Everyone should see it....and hopefully will be touched by it.
If this ad can just save a few helpless best friends, it will be worth it.

I can barely listen to that heartbreaking song alone, much less with the accompanying video - especially since we just lost one of ours.
But I do hope it inspires someone to investigate taking these animals into their homes.
I haven't seen one of these yet, but I have seen the ones for the dog food company who's donating money to help shelter dogs. They're heartbreaking, I can't imagine the ASPCA ones. It breaks my heart because while the commercials are certainly manipulative -- albeit for a good cause -- they ring so true. I spent about five years working really closely with a lot of abandoned and abused dogs and may they be scarred and trying at times, they are some the most loving, wonderful creatures on the planet. Seeing these smart, sweet animals who are clearly confused and only want something so simple as to be loved or have a friend is one of the saddest things I've ever encountered.
I haven't seen the commercial, but I refuse to watch it.
I donate to all of those causes anyway (ASPCA, PETA, Humane Society, Fund of Animals, etc.) and don't need to cry at the commercial.
I'm glad it exists, but I know that seeing it would break my heart even more.
Munk, I know what you are saying.
Your heart is there.
I saw the entire ad and my heart sank.
Thanks everyone.
Glad it's not only me.

I don't think I've seen the ASPCA one, but I did see the one for Pedigree with David Duchvony(It sounds like him narrating), and I cry when I see those. It really breaks my heart watching sad dogs.
I actually just adopted a dog through ASPCA. He's a cute little newfoundland and we all love him. When we went to get him, he was lying there in the cage he was in all depressed and when they got him out and put him in my dad's arms, he came right to live and start licking him and anyone else.
