And I finally remembered the name of the terrific Italian restaurant we ate at before seeing Lost Land. It's a block away from Steppenwolf and a long walk or short cab ride from Boys Town.
The food was wonderful, the service excellent, and I would go there again in a heartbeat. It's called Vinci's on N. Halstead.

I've yet to make it past the door of the KitKat Club.

1) It is located on the former location of one of Chicago's most notorious hustler bars. It makes me sad how the neighborhood has fallen off.

2) Pricy trendy food with Drag Queen entertainment- I've lost my appetite for all of the above.

3) If you are in the area and are hungry, head over to one of the city's most unusual restaurants: Walk east to Broadway then north a half block. Just past Charlies is the Genesee Depot. Home cooking, tres gay and very eccentric. I had a pork roast special there that I still drool over. Words fail me. Try it.

We used to go to Gennessee Depot when we lived on Cornelia - but that was 12 years ago. We also used to go to Cornelia's and Chicago Diner.
