While the herds are flocking to SPIDERMAN 47, I urge others to go see this small, emotionally powerful film starring the sublime Julie Christie who turns in an award-caliber performance as a wife succumbing to Alzheimer's disease.
Directed and written by Sarah Polley, the film is not a saccharine Lifetime movie of the week. It is a film about love, memory, integrity, and most of all the power to move on.
Christie has "Best Actress, NY Film Critics Circle" sewn up and the performance of the film in the marketplace will see if she can win Oscar number 2.
I'm obviously very excited about this film.

One of the reason Julie Christie is so good is the man (whose name I forget) playing her husband is equally good. The film is actually his story, not hers. She disappears and he remains visible.
These are two masterful subtle performances.
The entire cast is standout.
Not a happy film by any means, but damn good.
