But that is also my point. You don't need to be anonymous, Marc, because you have the power and influence that comes along with your unique position of being both famous and extremely successful. I don't actually need to be anonymous either, because my real name isn't going to mean anything to anyone (unless you happen to need a transplant, of course...). But there are scads of people here who *are* connected with theater and for whom the use of their real identities *could* have a detrimental effect on their livelihood. I've met papa. And there's no doubt in my mind that, were it safe to do so, he'd say exactly the same things under his true identity.

I acknowledge that papa's parody had some mean-spiritedness to it...but again, there's a whole lot of that that has gone on for a long, long time by many others writing under pseudonyms, for whatever reason. Papa's parody drew fire largely because of the people he targeted and the issues to which he drew attention.

Yes, I posted a rather passionate response in the Sister Act thread. I don't have a copy, but I've no problem if Craig or Rob has access and is willing to show it to you. But I actually already PM'd you about it a few minutes ago...so as to take responsibility for what was said. (I'm apparently not on the blocked list....) I'd have done the same in chat last night if I could have stayed logged on long enough to construct a coherent sentence and view the replies.

Whether you read this or not, I will say for the record since the topic is why a PM, that my initial PM to you over LocalOneCrew was sent privately to save you public embarrassment. I still believe now as I did then that you were coming across as a bully using your name to intimidate someone no where near your level of career accomplishment. I subequently learned that you like to provoke and to intimidate (you have been doing the same most recently to Papa) and simultaneously to appear silly and ridiculous in public. That's your personal choice, as mine is to stand up for those being treated unfairly no matter who is the bully.

Oh and while I'm at it, I'm sick of "your little dog, too," cute as he/she is.

Now, if you were smart enough to post anonymously you could come back after seeing ASSASSINS this afternoon and make a positive contribution to the board by posting your honest opinion. Actually, if you truly felt you could stand by your opinions you'd post your opinions about other shows under your own name, and to hell with others in your industry who might read them.

That would be standing by your convictions!

I will qualify my statement...I came on this board to correct things that I knew to be wrong...I then learned there wer a lot of fun people in here who I enjoy bantering with...now and then I (GOD FORBID) tell about something I've experienced that relates to the topic at hand

As I would say To John Simon of New York Magazine, when you write your opinions, just remember that you are talking about REAL people, real flesh and blood people and try to only say things that you would say to their faces...naive? perhaps. A bad way to strive to be, I don't think so.

actually i could understand how someone's identity could come into play if they were spreading gossip about real persons or if they were using their position to betray confidences of spread insider rumors passed off as facts. i did none of these things. i don't engage in gossip and rumor and innuendo and i never haave in all my years in the industry. guess it's the small town boy in me.

now to attack people for what they write on a message board (many if not most of whom happen to be anonymous themselves) has nothing to do with mine or anyone else's identity. had i attacked a show using supposed knowledge hat i gained by working on it, sure, call me by name and tell the producers. but because i point out how far some people (again who are for the most part aanonymous) like to ram their heads up a gimp's bum? get real.

marckie marc, when you're done up there on the cross, why don't you come down and face the fact that while i just held up a mirror, you pulled a switchblade. who's the bigger bully? you can whine all you want now about how you were teaching me a lesson or however you want to try to justify it in that wharehouse of loathing that sits atop your shoulders, but the fact remains that the only rationale for your threats was to show the kids that you were standing up for them. saint marc, the slayer of bullies, the man who will create a new utopian message board society based on absolute truth and complete transparency. and if you don't like it, he'll threaten your job and family life. don't you have some bad rhymes to make?

By the way, why don't you share with the board your personal investment in always trashing contemporary composers and invoking the notion of "people who deserve success" more than people who are successful? Let's face it, you were so sure you would hate Caroline, or Change that you wrote negatively about it with full authority before you even saw it. Mmmmmmm, hated Tesori and Kushner in CONCEPT. Why was that Jose? What, exactly, is your deal?
