Rent is #90 on the Top 100 Grossing Films of last year.

Um...you might want to take note of how many films are above it before you celebrate so much. Namely, 89 of them. That's more movies than I can even name from last year alone.

Yeah, I love Rent, but I'm not so sure this is something to be proud of (in fact, I think it's the opposite...).
BUT... There were A LOT of movies released last year (My guess is somewhere around 500-700)
Yeah, Top 100 isn't that bad in comparison.
This is so a case of glass half empty/glass half full.
And of course, like Plum said, can you even NAME 90 of them?

Okay, but how many of those 500-700 films were tiny indies only seen in a few festivals? You have to judge a film by its budget, provenance, and expectations, and by those standards Rent fell short.
