Has there ever been an actor/actress in movies where you go " Hey, it's that guy from that movie!" or " Hey, it's what's her name. I've seen her in tons of movies before!" Did you find out their names later on?
I was actually watching a rerun of ER last night, and I recognized one of the doctors and knew that he had been in a lot of small roles in movies, but didn't know his name! I decided to find out who it was and it turns out his name is Leland Orser. If you don't know who he is, he tends to play nervous, scared, screamy type people. But, he does it well! He's been in Se7en, The Bone Collector, and the main one I remember him the most from, Alien Ressurection.
And if you still don't know who I'm talking about, here's a video to refresh your memory.

Veronica Cartright was mine!
CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH, written and directed by Bill Condon and in a role he wrote specifically for her, was where I first came to love her. And that love has only grown since then!
And to find out she is a main voice on The Simpson's to boot!

And she was in Invasion Of The Body Snathers (who can forget that last scene!) and Alien.
I went to an off-Broadway theatre to see a play one night and shortly after arriving I noticed that Peter Boyle was sitting next to me and chatting with a friend. It was the friend who had me fascinated. His was one of those faces that you've seen a million times but you can't attach a name to it. It was all I could think about that night! It was a long time later that I was watching "All the President's Men" and saw him. His name is Nicolas Coster and he played Markham - the man sitting in the courtroom that Robert Redford questions. I had remembered that he was a regular in an old soap opera that I used to watch, but until that movie I couldn't think of a way of finding out his name!
Indeed, taz, indeed!
Her cherry-vomit scene in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK is classic and my favorite moment of hers. "CLYYYYYDE!"

This is my one skill in life. I've got a good memory for names and faces, so whenever I see someone familiar in a movie or TV show I can come up with where I know them from in about a minute, even if it's an obscure actor/role/film/show. Once I look them up, I'll know their name forever. Because of this, friends call me and text me a lot asking where they know "that doctor on that one show" from. I wish this was a marketable skill.
If I recognize you, then I know your name. Mostly, these days, I don't recognize anyone. For the most part, if you're on TMZ, I don't know you.
Veronica Cartwright is also Rod Taylor's little sister in The Birds.
That lady in every single commercial. She's in the Yoplait Lite commercials, listing out all the "desserts" she's eating on her diet, while her husband roots around in the fridge. Also, the Bing search commercial where she's pregnant and lists out all the random search options related to fish, and a Target commercial where she's getting sprayed by kid from the shower while brushing her teeth. I saw her on an actual show recently too.

I have the same skill, justagirl2. It can actually be somewhat embarrassing, because people will assume you put an actual effort into having an encyclopedic knowledge of every actor and actress under the sun.

...are you confusing her with Nancy Cartwright?
Veronica Cartwright also played Jack's mother on Will&Grace.
Nancy Cartwright voiced Bart on The Simpsons.

I have this same skill. I put it to good use when I took a job at Hollywood Video when I was in college. It got to the point where people would defer to me instead of the manager. It made him so mad that he wouldn't bring me back the following year citing "problems" with my work. I was the best employee he had.
Melanie Deanne Moore
Veronica Cartright got me, too. She did the voice over for first episode the new show Eastwick. I knew it was her voice, but I had to look her up. As soon as I googled, she was on the show.
Veronica Cartwright and Angela Cartwright are sisters. They were both successful child actors. Veronica in The Birds and The Children's Hour (terrific performance), plus a semi-regular on Leave It To Beaver (Lumpy Rutheford's kid sister), and Angela on Make Room For Daddy, Lost in Space, and best-known as Brigitta in film version of The Sound of Music.
But Veronica has worked steadily ever since, with an incredible resume that goes right up to this year.
