Actors who can't be anyother character

My sister and I were watching X-Man 2 today. And she made the comment that she can never look at Hugh Jackman without thinking of The Boy from Oz and him singing and dancing about.

Any distintive actors that stick out in your mind?

I used to think that about Lisa Kudrow, but she's done some great roles that prove her talents extend beyond Phoebe.

Hugh Jackman was my favorite Curly in Oklahoma. He channels Peter Allen into his performance in TBFO every night. Wolverine is a butch mutant guy, no way do I think of Peter Allen when I watch X Men.

Jackman's done the best he can to avoid typecasting, that's for sure. :) I think he's a fine chameleon- Peter Allen and Wolverine are light years apart.

Ben Stiller, on the other hand, has 3 stock characters and no more. Granted, he's been very successful with those 3 stock characters, but still.

She's never had to stretch her acting "abilities", as far as I know. But it seems a bit unfair to pick on someone as young as she is. She hasn't been around that long.

How about Tom Cruise?

Well... Let me mention something that I should have when I made the origional post. This was the first time we had ever watched any of the X-Man movies (yes, we have been under a rock for awhile). But we've seen Boy from Oz 3 times...

So yeah...

Katie Holmes seems to be unable to be anything other than pouty and sweet and it makes me want to kill her. Her performance in Dawson's Creek has been reproduced in The Gift, Abandon, Pieces Of April and so on and I can now no longer watch her without becoming prone to violence. I can't even stand that she's been cast in Batman Begins.

As for Megan Mullally, check out her performance in the little known movie Everything Put Together. She's amazing in it. And very far from Karen Walker.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.
