Adrenal Cancer

Greetings, OT board dwellers! I'm not exactly sure how to word this without feeling awkward about it so I'm just going to come right out and say it---I'd like your money. Not me personally, but I am here to ask anyone who has $5, $10, even $20 to spare to donate to my Relay for Life team for a very personal reason this year.
I am participating in Loyola University's Relay for Life to honor of one of my very best friends. She and I have been friends since the 6th grade and are now seniors in college. This summer she was diagnosed with adrenal cancer, which is both rare and rarely diagnosed in people our age. Because its symptoms (in women, at least) include many of the same symptoms as menopause, often the disease goes unnoticed until it is too late. My friend had been through a series of misdiagnoses before finding out she had adrenal cancer and almost immediately had surgery to remove the tumor as well as her adrenal gland and one of her kidneys. Thankfully she has been able to continue school to graduate on time while undergoing treatment after surgery. Even so, this cancer has had a huge effect not only on her life but on the lives of her family and friends. She lightheartedly jokes about "Spring Break Oncology Ward '09!!" and getting to spend her break not on the beach but getting more tests and treatment. Cancer sucks no matter what age you are, but having your senior year (not to mention your life in general) interrupted by something this huge is just awful. I hope that by participating in Relay for Life I can help to share her story and raise awareness about adrenal and other more rare forms of cancer, as well as to raise money to help find treatments and cures for all forms of cancer.
If you've read this far, thank you for "listening," and if you can donate know that I will be so thankful for your support! The link is below, and please let me know if it doesn't work. Even if you don't donate to my page or team specifically, any donation to help fight cancer is truly appreciated!

I want to wish you good luck with your fundraising efforts. There are so many now and the economy has hurt me just as much as others, so my ability to give is severely diminished. Still, I've done what I could and I hope others try to help you too.
All the best to your friend and my sincere desire that she beats this monster disease.

Just like your friend, I was diagnosed in high school (melanoma that spread to my groin lymphnodes). I'm also participating in Relay for Life this year and am on the hunt for funds haha Best of luck raising money!
