Advice for finding a studio apartment in New York

Hello everyone! I am looking to move to the Big Apple relatively soon. My biggest challenge I am encountering during preliminary searches of places to live is finding an affordable studio apartment that would ideally be somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500 a month. My job would most likely be in the city, but I would definitely be able to commute via the subway. I am completely new to this, and any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. I don't even know if what I am looking for even exists, but I figured this would be a good place to start since a lot of you live in New York! Thank you in advance!

The Gypsy Housing group on Facebook is also a good resource. I got a good deal on a 1BR in East Harlem when I moved here as the dancing gay couple went off on 6 month cruise ship contracts, etc.

What nonsense.

There are plenty of studios available in the $1,400 - $1,500 range that are not in the 100's. Doing a simple online search will find you dozens. You just have to look hard enough. It will become a full-time job if you're doing it right.

I also strongly recommend using a 'non broker fee' agency, such as Ardor Realty, to avoid paying the ridiculous broker's fee; the landlord pays it instead.
