I’d totally agree to that. But also as a betting man, I would have thought this revival would have run much longer. I think they needed to tap into the Drag Race franchise and tie the two together.

Interesting venue choice!

I would think they could plug in so many Drag Rave girls and get some kind of momentum. I think the renaming probably hurt them in that most of the public don’t know what a “ball” is.

They got cocky with the movie. It should have just been one film. The second act is notoriously bad. The fact that it didn’t even get a best song nomination speaks a lot.

I wonder if a lot of the physical limitations had to do with this being done at Belmont and not a traditional out of town theater. Maybe they could only handle and do so much. Although Sher seems to hate using automation in his shows so not sure how his style would translate to a barn like the St James.

She might be drawn to a featured role that gets to close out Act 1 with a great song.

I'm a gay man and I would see this in a heartbeat. Granted, "Fanmail" was on my record player for a VERY long time. But I think this could find some success on Broadway.

Book/score/direction/scenery - was the show any good?

I haven't been since the pandemic, but I'd always get a great seat up in the Balcony for fairly cheap? But maybe that's changed. I guess their whole model needs to be updated. Longer rehearsal process, etc.

Def wasn’t a dud. Just needed work. I don’t know the source material but Ghee sold the show. Just some weird decisions like leaning into the swampy/witchy theme. All that could be cut and just focus on the main characters.

Do we know why they chose the Hirdcheld? Always curious. Backstage space? Marquee? Etc.
