While suspenseful books are the subject of another thread, it brought to mind the most un-putdownable writer ever: Miss Jacqueline Susann!

Anybody read the original VALLEY OF THE DOLLS? If you saw the movie but haven't read the book, shame on you! Its so much more dark and naughty! The men are such brutes!

I also love THE LOVE MACHINE, with that irresistable scoundrel Robin Stone with whom everyone becomes obsessed.

But the most bonkers of her work is my personal favorite, ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH. Motorcycle accidents! Barely sublimated incest! Forbidden lesbian trysts! Orgies! Benzedrine benders! Oh, its just so much fun...she pulls out all the stops.

Anyone else a fan?

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Absolutely. Loved all her stuff. She died too soon...

I'm reading Valley of the Dolls right now, per my MOTHER'S suggestion. It's hilarious so far.

Dolls is one of my favorite books of all time. I haven't read Once in ages, but I still remember poor January's struggles. Didn't she become an acid head, too, in the book?

Did you ever read Yargo? I have it somewhere, but I can't remember anything about it.

What about the terrible "sequel" to Dolls that was published a few years back? Tragic.

"Every Night Josephine" was a loving memoir to her little poodle Josephine.
