I picked up this collection of 14 short plays by David Ives on my quest to find a one-act to direct this semester.
None of them seem to be appropriate for my purposes, but OH MY WORD this is amazing!
I'm only about halfway through (I can't read more than one of these per day... I have to SAVOR them), but I am totally in love.
Especially with "The Death of Trotsky".
This man is hilarious.

"Sure Thing!" is the reason I bought the book!
I saw it performed in a talent show back in high school and thought it to be terribly clever.

"Time Flies" from "Mere Mortals and Others" is the funniest short play ever written!

my old high school did AIT last year and I swear I have not laughed so hard in all of my life...The kid who played Trotsky is a 16yr old comic genius...I loved that and Phillip Glass Buys A Loaf of Bread...I almost wet myself...

I did Sure Thing, the monologue about the guy who believes he's a typewriter. Universal Language is one of the funniest things I've ever read, but I can't imagine trying to learn those lines!
