I think both teams' bullpens have done a pretty great job w/ a few exceptions in the 8th/9th innings. Mo got a shoddy deal w/ the game last night, w/ a runner on third and no outs (or was there one? I don't remember) after having pitched 2 innings the night before. But otherwise, (and I realize lots of men were stranded on base, so the outings weren't exactly flawless), you've gotta have some pretty good pitching to force the game into the 12th and 14th innings on consecutive nights. Tonight's going to be nuts. There are too many wacky factors to even venture a guess as to how it'll turn out...Curt pitching w/ his ankle, the rain, the temp being in the low 40s/30s w/ windchill, shot bullpens on both sides, two teams who have played 11+ hours of baseball in the last two days on no rest!!! I don't know! ARG! Go Sox!! Push it to 7!!!

This makes me wish one of the teams was from a warm-weather state. They're often at a disadvantage once it gets cold an nasty in October. (See: Arizona, Yankee Stadium 2001) But when the 2 teams are Boston and New York? Nothing doing. Boston's colder but at this point in the year it doesn't make much of a difference.

Well, here we go. Curt Schilling and his ankle brace vs. Jon Lieber Possessed.
What the hell?!?! They were showing him before the game, warming up, and he didn't have his "magic hi-top Reebok boot" on! Fingers crossed! This could be ugly (not that a shoe could possibly help all that much, but still, you'd think he'd want all the support on the ankle he could get!)

He's probably on a lot of pain meds right now.
I'm sure he is...I read that even in game 1, it wasn't the pain that was the problem for him; it was the fact that every pitch he threw, his ankle popped which threw off his focus. Now, I don't know if that's true or not. Schilling doesn't strike me as the type to concede to pain being the issue. We shall see!
Woo! Hit for Millar! Do something Tek!
Mr. Roxy, better the fans than the taxpayers, as is the case with other proposed stadiums. At least the fans have the choice whether or not to pay for something they enjoy. Taxpayers are stuck whether they love or hate baseball.

Hey dudes, I love Rivera and he's my favorite Yankee from the Torre era, but he has not been vintage Mo this series after a phenomenal regular season. Gordon has gone out and gotten hit hard every apperance this postseason. Why the continued use, why not leave Sturtze out there? Anyone, anyone but Gordon please Joe.
This doesn't change the appalling amount of runners left on base last night either. Pitiful. And dammit I have midterms to study for, end this series now.

I totally agree. Many of the fans are mindless robots who would pay any price for a ticket. Let them pay for the stadium .The city has more pressing needs than to shell out $$ for a baseball stadium. This goes for football as well . God forbid if New York gets the Olympics. Mad Mike won't tell the citizens what it will cost them for years to come.
The Olympics in NYC is my worst nightmare.
I KNOW!!! Are these people NUTS?!?!? I can't imagine why you would want to bring the Olympics to NY! The idea of having any large event like the Olympics or the Convention...It's nuts. It's a security nightmare. Why do you want to tie up an already congested, busy city? Where would you put all the people who would come along w/ the Olympics? All the players, the spectators, the security, etc. They're crazy!

Publically funded stadiums are pretty much a scam on the part of MLB and owners. Read the work of the late Doug Papps (available online) if you don't believe me. Luckily, the era of over-the-top stadiums paid for by local governments seems to have some to a close, though Bud "Satan" Selig probably won't rest until the Expos, and maybe the Twins and Marlins, get their own.
The Olympics...well, there's prestige to that, at least. It would be insane, yes. But there is a mystique to that.
Plum, the idea of a new football stadium being built here and paid for by taxpayers is very much alive, unfortunately.

Then there's the Nets moving to Brooklyn. Well, there's times when red tape comes in damn handy. :)
Oh, and Jeter: You're about as clutch as...Dan Miceli. Or something. Ugh.

Mark Bellhorn? MARK BELLHORN?
I hate my life.
Holy crap Bellhorn actually hit the ball!*Really surprised face* And got a homerun... I think the world may end.
Not that I am not absolutely ecstatic right now :o)
(I know the tides can turn anytime, but really, I am happy thay Bellhorn might possibly be out of his slump).
This is a good night on TV, as I'm watching baseball we are taping the PBS special on The American Musical. Baseball+Broadway=My Heaven
Well I'll be damned! Good job Bellhorn. He and Damon did good during the regular season, it's about time they started contributing in the post season! Oy, two on, nobody out! Thank goodness for that homer now!!!

Oh come on Plum! It's not the end of the world. There's still one more game though the Sox have the momentum now! GO SOX! Come on you have to admit it makes the series much more exciting. We may very well be seeing history in the making!
