Just curious.
I'm well aware of how this thread will most likely turn out, but I thought I'd attempt to find other fans. Both of them.
I happen to think he's a fantastic talent and I don't quite understand why so many on this board aren't receptive of him. Enlighten me, maybe? Politely?
Alright, I'm ready. Hit me with it.
I'll admit it. I do enjoy Clay. I think he's got a great voice.

I believe that my friend and I are the only straight guys that like Clay. I'm not ashamed.
I saw him in concert last August. Amazing.
I LOVE HIM AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.

You mean Gay Aiken.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I like him.

That's what I'm getting at. If it's not "wrong" then why the jokes? Why do people continually focus on this poor kid's sexuality instead of his voice? Just confused....
And I'm thankful to those who love him and are proud.
Timote, where'd you see him perform?
Clay has a gorgeous voice. Unfortunately.. he has not been the nicest person on tour. There was a article ( I think it was in Entertainment Weekly). It was talking about how in his last christmas tour his concert would use local childrens choirs. The kids would be promised a meal and a "hang" time with Clay Aiken. Apparently many of these kids and his parents complained that he was not very nice.

Apparantly that particular choir teacher was in hot water for the way she first talked to him. She insulted him. He reacted. There was a follow-up article to the initial story with more parents of those students who defend that she started the whole mess.
Eh, that's all hearsay. I just like to listen to him.

Because people who are OBVIOUSLY that gay shouldn't lie about it...
The man couldn't pass for straight to save his life!
Thats bull. Straight people come in all sizes and shapes and with all kinds of mannerisms. So do gay people. It could also be that he hasn't dealt with it yet. Either way.. it is none of anyones buisness.
"Because people who are OBVIOUSLY that gay shouldn't lie about it... "
See, now that type of remark just strikes me as tacky. How obvious is it? Honestly? Give me some examples here. Not rumors either. What about him screams gay?
Bumping in hopes of even more clever copycats of this topic and an answer to my last question.
Not a big fan, although his version of Proud of Your Boy on the Aladdin DVD is beautiful.
He's got a beautiful instrument. But, in my opinion, he sings terrible songs.
And as to his sexuality, I make fun cause, frankly, I'm pissed. When asked by a reporter what he has to say to his gay fans who connect with Clay on a certain level, instead of saying 'I love and appreciate all my fans', he shot the reporter a nasty look and ignored the question.
Some of us remember when George Michael was jumping around in poom-poom shorts and still not out. We remember Elton John being cloyingly bisexual whilst wearing outfits that made Dame Edna look like a male accountant from PWC. And some of us are sick to death of Sean Hayes' refusal to discuss his sexuality (though I do give him props for being completely honest as to the reason he's staying in the closet...MONEY).
Some of us are just done with the games and the lies and the pink elephants in the room.
Now I'm going to take my vitamins and do my exercise and love my woman, Kate.
I think he has a beautiful voice. And though from friends and friends of friends, I have heard that he is a really great guy!
I also love Clay Aiken - voted for him many times during American Idol. Went to see him in concert last September in Michigan and thought he put on a great show. I don't really care what his sexual orientation is as it is his life and he is the one who has to live it the way he feels it best suits him. He's very young (I'm not) and will have to learn to deal with many issues whatever they are just like the rest of us.

He's okay. I like his voice a lot.
i love clay... he's so nice and sweet and he sings beautifully.
I am not a Clay fan. However, I rememebr him when he was Clayton Grissom and looking even dorkier then he does now singing "All I Really Need Is The Girl" at auditions.
He has a nice voice, I must admit. But I have my reasons for disliking him as a person.
Actually, it was my school district where he came around and there was the uproar about the students' choirs. Well, technically, he performed in my high school's Performing Arts Center, but since our choir program refused to use our kids in the concert, they used Cherokee Regional's kids. I do believe they caused the uproar.
But besides that, Clay and his entourage or whatever completely trashed our dressing rooms. He didn't even open his fanmail or gifts. He left it all untouched... plus a bunch of half-eaten food, etc. I dunno, I figure that's a mite assholic.
That, and the 'choir kids' they used were mostly for show. I'm pretty sure they opted to use a recording instead, but I'm really not sure. Don't peg me for that one.
Well.. I think Ruben was the right winner of AI, but Clay...isn't as good as Ruben, just my opinion... I don't really think Clay is all that good

Well if you frame it as "Clay or Ruben" I think I'd have to vote for the contestant who can get through a three minute song without without gaspng for breath like he's running for a train.
I never thought Ruben had a very good voice, but when you factor in the gasping, the wheezing, and the ability to make any song seem like a marathon race, I found it painful to listen to.
