"Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt told Variety that the cable channel is in talks to pick up Arrested Development from Fox. "We're very interested in making it work for us, " said Greenblatt.
"We're having productive conversations with Twentieth, but we're a step shy of closing a deal, " Greenblatt said -- but a pair of major obstacles could still botch plans..."

But the bad thing is (at least for me) that I don't have Showtime. :-/

Posted: 1/20/06 at 6:58pmI adore this show, and I have never watched it on TV. I'm never home when it comes on, but the DVDS come out so quickly that I just watch it on DVD.

Yay!!! There's a better chance now that it won't die!! People might watch it now on cable. I'd have to wait for the DVDs, I don't get Showtime.

Well, looks like I'll have to give up the HBO package to get the Showtime one. Shame - I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, too. But Arrested Development takes priority over Curb - sorry Larry David.
Just a reminder - Feb. 10, 2 hours of all new Arrested Development. You'll miss the Opening Cerimonies of the Olympics, but who wants to see a bunch of Itailains dancing around an open flame, any way?

Well, if you have a Nielson box, just leave it on FOX while you're doing your show so we get the ratings (though I guess they really don't matter at this point, anyway, do they?).
In anycase, may you break a leg, C_S, and not your VCR (or Tivo, if you're high-tech)!

Posted: 1/21/06 at 11:11amI wish ABC had picked it up -- I think the audience on Showtime is too small - and honestly, I'm not paying whatever crazy fee they want for the half hour show - no matter how much I love it - I'll wait for the DVDs. Still, glad to know there WILL be DVDs...

I'm glad it's going to have a life beyond FOX, but fact is, the average American doesn't have Showtime. I think passing it onto Showtime is just giving it a place to die. It needs to be on a broadcast network (CBS, NBC, ABC) if it wants to at *least* keep the viewers it has now.
Wasn't ABC in talks as well?
