When I was mean to him,
He'd never say, "Go 'way now."
I was a queen to him...
Who's going to make me gay now?
It's only natural I'm blue.
He was too good to be true.

"Let me gaze in the wine while it's wet.
Let's do thing that we'll live to regret.
Let me dance till the restaurant whirls
With the girls, girls, girls, girls, girls!"

"I could be good to a lover,
But then I always discover
The bad in ev'ry man..."
Life is more delectable
When it's disrespectable.
Bless our mountain greenery home.
Marry maids can sew and sleep;
wives can only sew and weep!
What can you do with a man?
Where is his sense of duty,
Where is his taste?
Acres and acres of beauty
Going to waste!
When love congeals, it soon reveals
the faint aroma of performing seals.
The double-crossing of a pair of heels.
I wish I were in love again...
The Greeks have no word for it, they're too slow..
But the African slaves all call it "Hi-Dee-Ho"!

"Your sweet expression,
The smile you gave me,
They way you looked when we met--
It's easy to remember,
But so hard to forget..."
But don't change a hair for me. Not if you care for me.
I'm the dish you ought to savor,
Something warm and something new

"There goes my young intended.
The thing is ended.
Regrets are vain..."
Sometimes I think I've found my hero
But it's a queer romance...
And if you're good, I'll search for wood......

I love Sunday mornings because it seems to be the quietest time of the week outside when you live in a congested area. People are taking advantage of sleeping in on the weekend, especially after 'playing' on a Saturday night. It's a secret pleasure to hear the birds and watch the sunrise while the world is still asleep.
Looking out the window
You can see a distant steeple.
Not a sign of people.
Who needs people?
Once I was young, yesterday perhaps.
Danced with Jim and Paul, and kissed some other chaps.
Once I was young, but never was naïve
I thought I had a trick or to up my imaginary sleeve!
But now I know
I was naïve!
Trumpets are tearing my eardrums
Customers crushing my soul

Come with me
And you won't believe a thing you see.
Where an usher puts his heart in what he ushes,
Where a fountain changes colors when it gushes,
Where the seats caress your carcass with their plushes,
At the Roxy Music Hall...
We'll thank the small hotel
We'll creep into our little shell
And we will thank the small hotel together

Warm like the month of May it was,
And I'll say it was grand.
Here in my heart it's adorable
It's deplorable that you were never there
