Check out the Oscar Igloo site (Oscar Predictions Site) http://www.theoscarigloo.com/
Click on the picture of Jennifer Connelly for a write up about "An Early Look At 'Little Children'". Really interesting writeup/predictions about how the film/actors will do for Awards. Very complimentary of Patrick:
"Second, I'm thinking "Little Children" will be the film that makes Patrick Wilson a bonafide respected actor and heartthrob among Hollywood's most sought after leading men. Movie stills for the film have already been released and feature a ripped muscled, shirtless Wilson holding a baby in one arm, with Winslet cladly dressed next to him with her child in her hand. The photo screams volumes of the edginess with which the film will be made. It's gonna be raw, and it's gonna be sexy, and Wilson fits the bill perfectly. In the film, Wilson plays Brad Adamson, a former college football star with killer looks who is now a stay-at-home dad having an affair with a woman (Winslet) he deems far less hot than his married. Brad (named Todd in the novel) is the kind of guy who gets turned on by the look of his muscles during and after a push up. He's not cocky. He's nice. But he's very good looking, and can get any girl he wants without so much as a second thought. Mostly, though, he's just a typical joe who doesn't know what the hell to do. I think Wilson can pull off the subtleties, honesty and nice-guy persona that make Brad so empathetic and appealing to readers of source."
Here's a direct link to the whole article: http://www.theoscarigloo.com/2006/breakingtheice/littlechildren.html
And Patrick is listed a possible contender for a "Best Supporting Actor" nod. If you click on that link at the main page you can see that his name is hi-lighted in red which means "Greatest Buzz Gainer".
Woo Hoo Mister Wilson!!!
This is supposed to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. I am sooo there!

Callie Thompson is listed at IMDB as doing post-production voice work for "Little Children."
In on earlier post on that site, someone had spoken with the author, Tom Perrotta at a book signing. He said there was a third-person narration for the film. That would mean someone who wasn't one of the characters might be telling the story. Reminiscing about events in their neighborhood one summer?
I googled for images of "Callie Thompson" and she's a little girl. Here's a link to a page with her picture (scroll down, she's the 8th one on the righthand side).
http://www.theactorsscene.com/workingactors.htm
It must be her because it lists the film that IMDB lists for her: Photosynthesis."
Could she be a voice for Lucy? Or another child in the neighborhood? Or be the voice of the little girl who Ronnie molested?
So many possibilities....

A poster on the IMDB board for "Little Children" made the following statement. He/she has posted on a few other threads and is possibly an industry insider. The infomation may not be accurate but, in case it is, I thought we'd all want to watch for news of an on-line trailer:

From IMDB post by Bobbbbb: "The film is rated R for nudity, explicit sex, violence, and strong language. They are working on a red-band trailer that will be available on-line only."
Here's wikipedia's definition of a red-band trailer:]
Trailers, when shown in the United States, usually feature a green band, which is an all-green graphic shown at the beginning of a trailer, usually reading "The following PREVIEW has been approved for ALL AUDIENCES by the Motion Picture Association of America," and sometimes including the movie's MPAA rating. This signifies that the trailer adheres to the standards for motion picture advertising outlined by the MPAA, which includes limitations on foul language and violent, sexual, or otherwise objectionable imagery. Trailers that do not adhere to these guidelines may be issued a red band, which reads "The following PREVIEW has been approved for RESTRICTED AUDIENCES by the Motion Picture Association of America," and may only be shown before an R-rated, NC-17-rated, or unrated movie. The MPAA also mandates that trailers not exceed two minutes and thirty seconds in length, and each major studio is given one exception to this rule per year. When the trailer is shown in other countries, a similar message from the country's rating body replaces the green band.

From rumblings on the IMDB page and DiscoverKate.com:
Both ComingSoon.net
http://comingsoon.net/films.php?id=10705
and Box Office Mojo
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=littlechildren.htm
are showing a revised release date of Friday October 6 for the limited release (NY & LA) for "Little Children".
Variety has not published a new date yet.
If this is true, I don't know what that means for the wide release date which has always been a bit "fuzzy." And, a poster on IMDB says a teaser/trailer will be out in a few weeks.
Could be rumors. Could be fact. Could be half-and-half

Variety.com's release chart NOW does show 10/6 that there will be an "exclusive" release (i.e. limited) for "Little Children."
And, yes, Thomas Newman did the score. Ear Candy!

Posted: 7/1/06 at 10:52pmOscarwatch, earlier this year, predicted a best supporting actress nomination for Phyllis Somerville, as the mother of the child molester. Anyone hear such buzz? Or having seen the film, can you report on her work?

A poster over at IMDB apparently got to see a sneak preview of Little Children and has some great comments. They were quite impressed with the film--and mentioned what sounds like a VERY steamy sex scene!

In all the shots I've seen it was the little actress who plays Lucy, Sarah's (Kate) daughter.

More comments from the IMDB poster who saw a sneak preview. I love his statement about Patrick. WOO HOO!
"By - umbacka 3 hours ago (Mon Jul 10 2006 16:37:52)
I probably shouldn't be talking about the movie since I did see one of those advanced screenings, and I won't. But I will say, It is easily the best movie I have seen this year. Kate Winslet should win an Oscar and if someone like Michelle Williams can get a nomination for Brokeback, Jennifer can get one for this, same type of small role, she is very good. But I think Phyllis Somerville gives a fantastic performance, I would love to see a nomination for her.
Patrick Wilson should be a star after this movie, he has a very attractrive personality.
It will be rated R, def."

If you are interested in reading the novel that the film "Little Children" is adapted from, copies are probably available through your local library and at local bookstores. It is available in paperback.
On-line purchasing can be done through Barnes&Nobles and Amazon.com (where you can get used copies at a considerable discount.)
It is not a long book and should be a quick read--perfect for summer and to "prep" for the film.
If you have read it/are reading it please let us all know what you think!

Sounds like "Little Children" author, Tom Perotta enjoyed being the screenwriter for the film version of his novel. And I like the fact that the film has a lot of good internet buzz! :)

Patrick Wilson said in an interview last week that "Little Children" will be released on a limited basis in early October and then a wider release shortly thereafter. Woo Hoo.
That means a trailer HAS to be coming out fairly soon!

Posted: 7/31/06 at 3:54amYou know, I really didn't like this book, but it had one of the BEST closing sentences I ever read...
#20re: An early look at 'Little Children' ( Winslet, Wilson, Connelly)
Posted: 7/31/06 at 12:34pmI thought the book overrated, the whole subplot about the child molester is shoe-horned in very awkwardly to provide drama, and then it really fails to do so. The climax (no spoiler) tries to pull together disparate threads that don't really hang together. I had two friends who felt the same, though it's readable. Doesn't have the bite of other Perotta stories, he seemed to be straining. But it may make a far better film, because the sexual story will play better.

OMIGOSH. Here is a report by a critic from a sneak peek of
This sounds like it will be a very, very, very interesting movie.
Patrick is gonna be THE NEXT BIG THING after this...

Here's just a snippet from his comments:
"The specific reactions to Todd and Sarah’s infidelity cannot be described, but suffice is to say that it's steamy erotic affair with full nudity (of both) and daring sexual positions, at least as far as bourgeois, mainstream sexuality is concerned."
