Sorry, HD made me do it!
Michael Moore's "Sicko," which opened nationwide Friday, is filled with horror stories of people who are deprived of medical service because they can't afford it or haven't been able to navigate the murky waters of managed care in the United States.
A couple featured in Michael Moore's "Sicko" leave a London hospital with their newborn.
It compares American health care with the universal coverage systems in Canada, France, the United Kingdom and Cuba.
Moore covers a lot of ground. Our team investigated some of the claims put forth in his film. We found that his numbers were mostly right, but his arguments could use a little more context. As we dug deep to uncover the numbers, we found surprisingly few inaccuracies in the film. In fact, most pundits or health-care experts we spoke to spent more time on errors of omission rather than disputing the actual claims in the film.
Whether it's dollars spent, group coverage or Medicaid income cutoffs, health care goes hand in hand with numbers. Moore opens his film by giving these statistics, "Fifty million uninsured Americans ... 18,000 people die because they are uninsured

Posted: 7/2/07 at 1:00pmI am certain it is I who is wrong. Ask HD to back up his claims then come back to me. One of us MUST be a LIAR.

Posted: 7/2/07 at 1:03pmRomantico. No name calling please.. HDT isn't a liar. He's merely regurgitating other people's opinions without evaluating the source material. That doesn't make him a liar. Just ill-informed.

Posted: 7/2/07 at 2:26pmMy appologies.HD does NOT intentionally say things that are not true.Let me rephrase, "Hd Mis-Speaks" (learned this one from Bill O'Reilly who was caught in one to many lies. He weaseled out of being caught by telling people he mis-spoke) because he doesn't have all the data or inforamtion regarding any certain subject. Is it okay if I call HD a 'mis-speaker?' This way he is not lying, just saying something that is not true due to not having all his facts.

Sicko is the Second Highest Documentary Opening of All Time and it will open in more theatres in the coming weeks. Sorry for those who attempted to break this film by posting links to download the film for free. Sort of backfired, wouldn't you say?
The numbers are in and Michael Moore’s Sicko has made an estimated $4.5 million in it’s first weekend on just 441 screens. This is well above expectations. The Weinstein Co has plans to expand the release in the coming weeks, beginning with the addition of 200 more screens on Tuesday. And with 93% of moviegoers saying they would strongly recommend the film (according the studio’s exit polls), this film could have legs. The film was leaked online weeks before it’s theatrical release. This could be the first case where movie piracy helped greatly in the promotion of a Hollywood release. Check out the studio’s release after the jump.

The Buzz on this movie is growing every day.The opposition has been relatively quiet to this point. This is brilliant marketing.

I'm kicking this so its even with "That Other" Michael Moore thread. Seems like "He who does not lie but mis-speaks" needs to be remidned to either put up or shut up.

There is a LOT of cutting and pasting in this thread.
I'm really surprised that Craig will allow it.
No conservative would EVER get away with that.

HDT - I appreciate that you see yourself now as a self-appointed moderator or as others have said tattletale.
Let me state YET again, because clearly you are having reading comprehension issues (maybe it's the late hour?) - Using a paragraph or two is permitted. You may not, however cut and paste entire articles or more than a paragraph or two.
Now.... feel free to point out "violations" in this thread....

BlueCross Secret Memo Re: 'Sicko' ... "You would have to be dead to be unaffected by Moore's movie"
July 6th, 2007
Friends,
An employee who works at Capital BlueCross has sent us a confidential memo written and circulated by its Vice President of Corporate Communications, Barclay Fitzpatrick. His job, it seems, was to go and watch "Sicko," observe the audience's reaction, and then suggest a plan of action for how to deal with the movie.
The memo, which I am releasing publicly in this email, is a fascinating look at how one health care company views "Sicko" -- and what it fears its larger impact will be on the public. The industry's only hope, the memo seems to indicate, is if the movie "flops."
Mr. Fitzpatrick writes: "In typical Moore fashion, Government and business leaders are behind a conspiracy to keep the little guy down and dominated while getting rich."
No. You don't say! That can't be!
