Or Crackberry as they are called in some circles. Thinking about getting one...are they worth it?
I am *so glad* I don't have one yet. Once you have one, you are pretty much required to work 24/7.

I'm so technologically behind that I just got a camera phone about three months ago.
My dad's got one...
I haven't seen him in a year or so...
There are a number of Windows based "smartphones" that most people I know prefer, ITers and users alike.
I'd check out CNET to get the lowdown.
Many companies used them preferably because they are considered more secure, but I dont believe that is the case anymore.
I went into T Mobile the other day to get one. But I didn't get the Blackberry, I got the T Mobile MDA. I forget what all, but it had more features--one of which being that I can use it as an mp3 player, which was my goal and justification.
It's very cool--but not as easy as a lap top if you are getting it for web access. Depends on what you want it for.
Mostly for a phone and emergency web access.
Then it's good for you. It's also a planner and has Word and other programs on it.

I don't know about that - most people I know who have one are never in the office anymore. I've seen my company's owner in the office less than 8 hours in the past month.
This morning I saw him in for 20 minutes & he was decked out in a polo shirt, shorts, and sandals.
What I meant by working 24/7 was that when you have a Blackberry, you are reuquired to answer emails at all times...even on weekends and holidays. Even when they are not still physically in the office, they are working.
I own one and I love it. It is a lifesaver when you are always on the run. It is very expensive but I don't know how I could live without it now.

If answering e-mail is work I want that job
sigh, I was thinking that you talked about a Blackberry tree.
I suppose I should use mine to do work ... they are wickedly handy for keeping in touch. The magical feature they have that I enjoy using most is the "off" button - when I leave the office, I use it.

WOT: They call them "Crackberry's" out here in California for the reasons you mentioned.
Let's just say, I have two lawyer parents in NYC. I think their hands are beggining t omutate and for dents to hold the blackberry. They are always on them.

I've had a Sidekick for almost 2 years now and I expect to upgrade to a Blackberry when it finally dies.
I love having web access wherever I go, and I'm more productive on train rides.
