"Commenting on Trump's public persona is one thing. She blasted him for acting like some sort of benevolent god allowing his little lost sheep to be forgiven. He acted like he is a moral compass and Rosie pointed out his past reported shady business dealings. Did you see the press conference? It was ridiculous. Sickening. Miss USA was basically bowing before him. And Rosie's job on The View is to comment on that sort of thing. He, however, couldn't think of a valid argument so he called her "fat" and "ugly." He said that he could send one of his friends to steal her girlfriend. C'mon! While he didn't say MALE friend, you know that is what he meant. Then he ended it by saying that she better hold on to Kelly because she would never get another girlfriend. Does he HONESTLY think that Melania would be with a hideous, comb over sporting joke if he didn't have gold plated doorknobs? He is a dick."

i'm going to go out on a limb here (i have absolutely nothing to back this up, it's sheer speculation) and say that what rosie was really upset about is the fact that she saw it as trump punishing miss usa for making out with miss teen usa, hence an attack on lesbians.

the miss usa pageant is a joint venture of donald trump and nbc, if he wants to can miss usa for passing gas he can, it's his pageant. it's not like the donald came out of left field and was posting himself as a moral icon, he saw the person who'd been posited as a role model in the person of miss usa engaged in underaged drinking and alleged cocaine use. hell, vanessa williams lost her crown for some nudie pics that were done before she even won. by all rights, they should have canned her.

of course the donald's not a paragon of virtue. he's also not miss usa.

Many of my colleagues yesterday remarked that in many ways Rosie is more repulsive than Trump. They were quick to point out the showdown with Kelly Ripa recently which led to a certain male singer being quasi-outed and the comment made recently that was perceived by many as patently offensive to Asians. Honestly, I'm not a fan of either.

after having finally seen the original video of rosie's remarks, i cannot believe how low she and the view have sunk. while her viewpoint was dead-on true, her tactics for expressing herself were very hateful and immature. she threw the first, quite unprofessional volley. trump's response was sickening, but that is to be expected considering the source.

i tuned in to the view once or twice in the decade it has been on, and from what i remember, meredith (even at her worst) was a hell of a lot more professional than rosie. daily viewing on the show now seems like the whole rosie vs. tom selleck business back on the rosie o'd show.

with that said, i'm sure barbara is laughing all the way to the bank. and the view's ratings are probably through the roof. how long until they add jerry springer to the view to give his all-important final thought.

Trump is just going overboard. And you have to ask yourself why he is attacking her when identical comments have been made by HUNDREDS.

Yes, the comments about Kelly Ripa and Clay were pretty out there. She is a gay woman with a family who has dealt with a lot of assholes like Trump in the public over the years. I got why her mind went there even though mine did not. Anyone who read the story of the marine who claimed to have slept with Clay can understand why the, "I don't know where that hand has been" comment would be offensive. Something about a fist? I don't believe that Kelly was referring to that, but it could have been taken that way. I think she overreacted, but until I have walked in her shoes, I have to cut her some slack.

I don't think anyone agrees with Trump. Those who do work for him or work in the media, and those who do not merely have no outlet to say so. A regular person's opinion doesn't matter, but a person in the industry can either agree and come right out and support him, or disagree but be very much afraid of his power and money.
