I just watched the first two chapters of Angels in America while my computer was being occupied by the mother parental and I am depressed now. LOL. Everyone is dying and leaving and marriages are getting broken up. It's like a spiral of depression. But, the acting is AMAZING and the dialogue is AMAZING. Movies have moved away from great dialogue and more into CGI and whatnot and it makes me upset. I love movies that use great dialogue to envoke so many emotions from you. But, I am going to watch the rest of Disk 1 either tomorrow or Tuesday. So far, so good.

I actually watched some of that tonight with my friend. I forgot how heart-wrenching it was. Beautiful, though. re: Angels in America

Ain't it sad when a movie with great dialogue is cribbed right from a play?

If they're going to adapt a play, I'd prefer they keep it as much in tact as possible. I was afraid they were going to butcher Kushner's script but the movie really felt like an amazingly acted production of the play, on a massive stage, with weather, and magic, well you get the picture.

Spider,

Keep watching...it will be amazing. You'll laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time.)

I love this movie...LOVE IT!

What poetry. TK is such a wordsmith. And the acting...and, it "introduced" me to the marvelous Patrick Wilson. :o)

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Ok, I have finished watching Disk 1 (going to go get disk 2 later today) and here is what I think of it so far.

DIALOGUE: I said earlier in this thread that I miss movies with great dialogue and the dialogue in the movie is "AMAZING." Well I take the last part back. While it has GREAT (not amazing) dialogue a lot of the stuff they said I literally went, "Who talks like that?" But, overall great dialogue.

CHARACTERS: Love them all except Patrick Wilson's wife. She is really annoying and I don't understand the point of her being in the movie. Maybe Disk 2 will explain it more but right now she bugs me.

DIRECTION: Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Nuff said.

STORY: Still confusing. I am not sure of what's going on majority of the time. Again, hopefully Disk 2 will shine more light on the subject.

OVERALL: Keeping me interested (which is hard to do by the way) and I am looking forward to watching disk 2
