Oh I have seen that clip a few times and love every second of it. She defined the word "sexy." I also love the clip of her from the Tony Awards ceremony that celebrated different composers, she was part of the Sondheim honor and danced to a few bars of "You Gotta Get a Gimmick," the way she moved her body seemed like she had no bones, what a genius of movement she was. I read an interview with Tommy Tune where he stated that he trusted her so much that he pretty much let her choreograph her own movements in "A Call from the Vatican." How I wish I could have seen her do that number.

Back before she was famous, she taught "Movement for Actors" at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I took teenage classes on Saturday mornings and she was the movement teacher. She was the sexiest woman I had ever met--sexy on a level of Marilyn Monroe or Barbara Eden.

She used to stretch us out in our leotards by having us sit with our legs open. Then she would place her feet on our ankles and push out. (Even budding homosexual boys like me found that a little exciting.)

I remember her being funny and beautiful with lots of shocking red hair. Years later, when she was in Nine, I marveled that age had only made her more beautiful and more sexy--and just as funny!

PalJoey thank you for posting this one! I'd seen it a few months earlier, but it prompted me to do another search for her on Youtube. Let me just hint that if you're too young to have seen her highly acclaimed performance in Nine or just want to reminisce about how lucky you were to see her, you are now able to get a call from the Vatican for yourself! I can't say much else except that I'm utterly wowed by a woman who gives Gumby a run for his money.

I love love love Chita. She is pure joy and I love the fact that I've been inspired and moved by her talent...

I think Chita can do Fosse but I don't consider her a Fosse dancer. She has always been more about force and speed and the "it" factor. Very similar in style to Debbie Allen.

I don't know. I assume one of them did as a tribute to their dad. Did you like it? I loved it the moment I saw it and to this day still get excited when I see it.

I was acquainted with Christopher and his father when I lived in NYC. For some reason I never met Charlotte.
Christopher retired from NYCB way too soon. He was wonderful in FANCY FREE.

Wow, I can't believe the brilliance of her movements in "A Call from the Vatican," how could she move like that?
I still do not get how that number in itself didn't get her a Tony Award, maybe I had to see the show live, but I can't think of anything Liliane Montevecchi could have done to deserve the Tony over Morris (perhaps I need to see the "Follies Bergeres" number).
I wish I had seen her in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, but furthermore I wish she had lived much longer and create more roles on Broadway.
And yes, this is another gay boy who feels a little tickle for her.
