The eason I mention Jesse Jackson and what he said is indicative of the widening divide, fueled by the media. To make a statement that they shouldn't be invoked here is nonsensical-just like saying on the Broadway Board we shouldn't mention something Patti Lapone or Adam Pascal say since they don't post here either.

Christopher Lane was profile and targeted purely because of his race, and for the media not to give the statement that this is 'frowned upon" same coverage as the Martin case - or not to even call it a hate crime-shows the disparity.

papa I hate to keep beating a horse when there are so many posters here who deserve to be beaten but that kid with the iced tea and the skittles got killed. He wasn't smoking dope or shoplifting or whatever stuff the right-wing media loves to blast him for. And hell, for that matter, even if he had been, it doesn't mean he should be shot for it. If so, I'd be dead. That's the line I'm trying to draw here- from the minute the body hit the ground, there were forces trying to say that he had it coming and George Zimmerman did a good thing. The police, the media, the tea baggers and finally the judicial system all piled on this dead kid.

joe, he got killed because he started beating the wrong guy. where i come from fighting means killing. you take a swing at me, i will damn sure be trying to kill you. he started beating on someone and that person defended themselves.

ok, let me amend that slightly...if someone attacks me and i know without a doubt that i can subdue them without killing them and end the confrontation, i will do that.
