I don't think anyone believes you wrote this with the intent to catch little kiddies at Broadway houses. In all likelihood, this group could go on and something terrible like that might never even happen. But people do have to be careful, young people especially. It's one thing when people become close friends on message boards like this one and decide to meet up in person and see a show together. But this is a little different--basically calling together people who aren't necessarily close, even online, and organizing an outing could attract some unwanted company. I understand why people would be more wary of this idea, since it sort of invites anyone who wants to get in on it.
Your intentions were noble.

Personally, I think it's a great thing when theatre fans become friends online and meet in couples or groups to see shows (I myself am not inclined to do such things, but many times I do end up seeing shows on my own so I can relate to the situation you all are in). Just saying, though, keep it close-knit--get to know people better on BWW, and (still using a degree of caution) you might later on want to organize a theatre outing among a friendly group of you. That will probably be less awkward anyway.
And hey, if you still want to meet completely new people, you're bound to find like-minded folks (sometimes singles, sometimes in groups) at the theatre itself once you're already there. I've met a number of really friendly (OK, and a few crazy) fans before, during, and after shows I've gone to on my own and have been able to talk with them as easily as I talk here on BWW.
I'm sure most of us are mature enough not to have to be policed, but we all know that this board has its share of young'uns who need to be careful and not get caught up in the excitement of meeting other people who might not be so safe. Good luck with your idea, but I think the above suggestions are better ways of meeting people than having an "open call" that could, God forbid, turn ugly.
