THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE Reviews

May 17, 2011 — 7:23:55 AM

I thought Murphy was absolutely fantastic, wonderful acting, but wonder how she ended up in this show. Just for the interesting acting opportunity? Probably being paid a fair amount, maybe that's why the bare set. No, Roundabout is cheap. 9 times out of 10, their sets for Studio 54 are barren. That, coupled with uncomfortable seating are why it takes me so long to get around to seeing anything there.

I don't understand why Varla would take a pay cut to do this show. Considering how often she sells out in Provincetown in the Summer and the numerous times she does tours throughout the country, it's a wonder she said "okay" to the puny wages they offer for an Off-Broadway house. Not to mention how TERRIBLE the commercial looks.

Which tour cities are A, B, or C? And what makes them that?

"Shouldn't the owner of the theatres be taken into consideration?" This is actually true. I know one of the theatres in Boston let their contract expire with Broadway Across America & so "Next To Normal" couldn't come here. Instead we get the tour of "West Side Story". :P

stage door for how to succeed

I was in town yesterday evening & decided after the show I saw, to snap some pictures of the marquee (I saw something else). Unfortunately since most Broadway shows all let out around the same time, the door swooshed open before I could snap a picture and the crowd was BEYOND insane. I hate crowds anyway but this one was nightmarish. Glad you had a wonderful experience, mintice2! It's always nice to hear when someone really gets to truly thank an actor for their craft & that they are so recep...

WONDERLAND to Close on Broadway; Plays Final Show May 15

I went to Saturday's matinee and gotta say, there were a LOT of empty seats in the orchestra. Everyone near me all got their tickets either via comp or TKTS since they were speaking about it so loudly. Gotta love those Midwestern tourists in their tacky Mickey Mouse shirts... Many many things wrong with this show. I enjoyed the opening number that Chloe & Alice sing together. They make you believe this show was going to have heart. Then the cheesy "Down the Rabbit Hole" sequence happens. They...

Thanks! I knew it had been on the boards forever (and was mostly empty). Just was mostly curious if the producers might pull it from the boards now that the world knows what a big stinking flop it truly is. Yay! This makes me excited!

Anyone have any idea as to whether this'll be on TKTS this weekend? I may try & see it before it closes. Not that I think it'll be any good. But mostly to say that I had...

Agreed. I liked the Broadway better. The London has good things to like about it but I adore Donna Murphy.

New Annie Revival Opens Fall 2011

My vote for Miss Hannigan would be Patti LuPone. I know she'd never really do it but I could see her tearing the ish out of that part (in a good way).
