Do any IB students find it incredibly difficult to do the work PLS college applications PLUS auditions PLUS scholarships PLUS lessons PLUS drama andc ompetition stuff????
IM at my wits end!!!
I definitely sympathize with IB students... I really avoided that program and did Running Start instead. So yes... it's a pain in the arse especially with all college courses, being E.i.C. of the HS newspaper, plus voice and a show...etc. I hate college applications... they are just in the way. I personally think that if you can complete the application correctly, they should just let you into the school.
haha..i agree..theyre like the pink elephant in the room that i don't want to acknowledge so im procrastinating...but no more..this sunday is application day..no matter what!!
so what schoolas are u guys applying for?
The List so Far (it likes to change):

How about you?

hopefully IB wont be a total waste and dazzle the admissions..lol..i complain about IB alot btw..it relieves my stress haha
I'm in IB...and yeah, it's a lot of work. But I've been pacing myself, and I'm not really under any stress at the moment. I have to finish 2 external assessments this weekend, and I'm going to try to finish my applications too.
Though, I don't have to stress about auditions or learning songs and such since I'm a tech person...which probably makes things a wee bit better.
My little story from my days in IB:
Our senior year was about half way over. I already got early admit to the college I wanted because I took a class there while still in high school. Plus I already had my audition for the top level choir and knew that I was accepted. Basically, I was sitting pretty while everyone around me was freaking out.
One day one of the biggest over-achievers in the program wailed her way into Euro History HL. She was one of the top actresses in our school and was a complete drama queen to boot. In a rush of frustration, she threw her books down and collapsed into her desk. She turned her eyes to the heavens and cried out, "I quit!!! I'm done!! I don't care anymore! I JUST WANT TO BE A TROPHY WIFE!!!!!!!"
Her dilema? Deciding whether to go to Princeton or Yale. To me, that sums up the entire IB mentality in a nut shell.
Get out! Get out while you can! IB is the worst program in the history of education!
its a bit too late to do that..i'd have to repeat a bunch of classes..besides im almost done and schools give IB priority..plus stress is comoon in college and IB helps in that department.
my extended essays due in less than a month and i havent started LOL..im screwed
My EE is due before Winter break and I've yet to start it too. Awesome.
HAHA so has half of my IB class..LOL..but we are quite the procrastinators if I may say so myslf..we can pull stuff out of thin air and still pull it off
by fa the greatest skill learnt yet
The ability to completely BS a 4 page paper at 1AM about book that I haven't read is one of the most valuable things that I've learned from IB.
"its a bit too late to do that..i'd have to repeat a bunch of classes..besides im almost done and schools give IB priority..plus stress is comoon in college and IB helps in that department. "
lies, all of them. Schools do not prioritize IB, at all. Trust me, I had friends both in and out and the same amount got into Ivy leagues from in IB that got accepted out. And Ivy league schools are overrated too. I'm going to a little engineering school for a fourth of the price and happen to be getting a great education. Just keep that in mind when applying.
hmm..im not gonna worry about uvy league schools...i always thought i would b a corporate lawyer and join my familys firm but acting/ainging is my calling and ivy league schools arent the breeding grounds for performers at all so im not applying to any..i am applying to big ten schools though
Schools may not prioritize IB, but if you apply to a college that's even the least bit competitive, and IB was offered at your school and you weren't part of it to some extent, they'll laugh at you.
I'm so stupid, what it IB?
International Baccalaureate = IB.
I almost went to a school that required a full IB course load for all its students. Thank goodness I did not go there. APs are already a biotch.
Kitzy, that's about 10% of my Senior Class, except they are all convinced they are going to wind up in community college. I've yet to hear the trophy wife assertion. Although I can totally envision someone who is doing ED to Cornell saying that.
Oh yes, thanks! I'll probably have to worry about that next year as well.
I wish I had the option of doing IB. I'm a gr.11 in Ontario and they just started the IB program... FOR THE GR.10'S!!!
dpnm't sweat it...AP is about as good. The classes are just as hard. The thing taht makes IB a bit above AP is the fact taht its a full progrma. You have all IB classes and internal/external assesments for each not to mention CAS community hours(yuck!) and an extended essay. And i have those overachievers too...ugh shoot me..these two guys comepete for the highest gpa..they take all the same classes and what not but one guy took an online class on the side without telling the other one and now hes number one.LOL...thats pretty sad guys.
My school doesn't even have AP the courses are divided into different course paths: Universitiy, University/College, College, Workplace
hmmmm,,thats odd..how does taht work?
I would just like to share that my HI and Math Project are both in...now I've just gotta tackle my EE and TOK Paper in the next few weeks. Sigh.
LOL...my CAS stuff is all due on MOnday and like half off my hours are fake. I have a friedn at a kinder house. Sweet ain't it?
My cousin is in IB and loves it.
My school doesn't have AP classes, but every class prepares you for the AP test, and everyone pretty much takes an AP for every class they take in High School. They just don't want to teach specifically for a test.
