Just wanted to *raise hand* also... I think this Broadway mainstream fad should end. Let's not fill any more theaters with movie-based musicals, or overdone, tired revivals.
"Wicked Little Town" - Hedwig and the Angry Inch "Once In Awhile" - The Rocky Horror Show "Let's Walk" - The Light in the Piazza "Christmas Bells" - RENT (I know, I know... blasphemy) "Contact" - RENT (Had to see it live) "It's De-Lovely" - Anything Goes "I Get A Kick Out Of You" - Anything Goes "A Summer in Ohio" - The Last 5 Years Some of these are blasphemous, I know...
*sigh* I did Rocky Horror back in October... I miss it. I would have to agree with most people here in that even though I love this show, I too don't think it could do well on Broadway at this moment. If it were to open today, perhaps off-Broadway would be a better place. ... and then Hedwig could open right next door. What an area that would be to walk through.
It drives me nuts how RENT starts with the house lights up. I never like that, in any show. ARGH. The first time I saw it, I thought there was something wrong...
...he's beautiful. I've been watching the show (just to see him, really) and his talents are severely underused, IMO. I was so glad to hear he was leaving. Though, I won't get to see him every day.
John Cameron Mitchell: The entire Hedwig show. Right there. In fact, Miriam Shor, Stephen Trask, and everyone else needs to be there also. In costume. *//end fantasy* But if I had to pick one... John Cameron Mitchell singing "The Origin of Love" Others: Raul Esparza - "See Her Smile" from Tick, Tick...BOOM! Matthew Morrison - "Il Mondo Era Vuoto" Michael Ball - "Losing My Mind" Jonathan Pryce - "The American Dream" Raul Esparza et al. - "The Time Warp" Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Jesse L. Mar...
Phantom of the Opera... What would the Majestic do? They should just rename the theatre. I too am really upset about Wedding Singer... And was extremely upset about The Rocky Horror Show... But other then those, I think I could get over everything else closing pretty easily.
...*sigh*... I'm going to have to agree that they should have at least used Patti. ...why...? Why do they do this to movie musicals?? Stop this madness.
That's what happens when you become one of Burton's little proteges. I mean, I love Johnny, but I don't want him playing Sweeney. ...*sigh*... wouldn't it have been fantastic if they had cast Michael? I don't dislike Helena, but honestly... Stop the movie musical madness before all the wonderful theatre dies a horrible death in Hollywood.
I didn't know they were doing that... why?? WHY RUIN SUCH A FABULOUS FILM? *despair* I have no idea how I will ever see another actress playing Sybil either... sad, really.
