I really enjoy the Concert Recording of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE.
My favorite track is Scott Bakula singing "Everybody Says Don't."
Oops, another disagreement...It irks me that Bernadette messes up on "There's Always a Woman". That song version cannot compare to Kaye Ballard's/Sally Mayes version.
And honestly, i have had that cd for ten years and have yet to listen to the whole thing. Not one of my fave Sondheimers...
ANYONE CAN WHISTLE is the rare Broadway Musical that is presented in THREE Acts.
The other Three-Act Musical that comes to mind is THE MOST HAPPY FELLA.
I'm seeing this Friday night in Ravinia......and just bought the OBCR recording yesterday...and LOVE it.
NO NO NANETTE is also a three act musical
Damn, damn, damn. Can't believe I have to be on Navy Pier for Dance For Life rehearsal (Fri night) and performance (Sat night).

In "There's Always a Woman," Bernadette accidentally says "bore" twice, thereby throwing off the timing of the second to last line of the duet by a split second. I'm guessing it's barely noticable to the average listener, but the way some people go on about it you'd think she had a meltdown on the stage of Carnegie Hall. It's a tiny glitch, not a fatal flaw.
I love the concert album. Not as a replacement for the OBC, which is classic, but as an essential supplement. Is anyone really that poor that they can't afford both?
R&H's CINDERELLA is also in three acts.
And ANYONE CAN WHISTLE is a stunning, powerful musical, and I hope it gets a good revival one of these days...

Elphaba-- I'm seeing it on Saturday and I'm so excited. However, I am jealous of you, since Sondheim himself will be there giving that pre-show talk on Friday and not on Saturday. Are you planning on going early to that?
The Apple Tree was presented in three acts.
sorrygrateful, now that you've told me....YES! (I didn't know he'd be there)

Elphaba-- Yay! I'm glad I could help someone! Go to the Ravinia website to confirm that I'm not a lying cow and you'll see exactly what time it starts. (Maybe 6?) If you'd said you weren't going, I think I would've passed out and then woken in a screaming rage. But you are going, so now the world is safe for another day.
And tell Steve I say, "What's up."
yeah, and we're taking the "Ravinia train" out there at 5PM, so we'll def be there in time

My best friend is coming from Ohio for the show. We're both Ravinia virgins and there's no one I'd like to devirginize me more than Michael Cerveris.
*edited for drunken syntax*
I prefer the concert too, actually....and I agree with Mary_Ethel -- Everybody Says Don't is great on there!
"blush"....am a Ravinia virgin too.......(and that's about the ONLY thing I claim to be virgin for!)

Oh, Elphaba!
I'm getting so excited for this weekend!!! Do you think that Sondheim might be there for the Saturday performance as well even if he's not doing that pre-show discussion? Someone lie to me and tell me he will.
he was there last year on Saturday as well -- I think he will be!

Oh my God. Well for those us you going on Saturday night, I'll be the one somewhere in the middle of the pavilion, screaming and crying simultaneously. I'm super talented that way.
SG -- stop by my balnket for some wine! That makes the crying and screaming even more fun!
Saturday for me, too!
I think I'll wear pink...
Addy in pink is a lovely vision!

Oh, this'll be so much fun! You're my new favorite, K! Since we're on the topic, do you all have any tips for enjoying Ravinia to it's fullest?
