Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I recently got back from Quebec City in Quebec, Canada, and wasn't on here since last Friday. All the residents speak French (English, too, but primarily French), and I'm just wondering, does anyone here speak any other languages.

I don't, but hopefully one day I will speak Spanish if I decide to major in it.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

Sadly no... I really wish I did. I took french in High School and college... but I just could not sit through another grammar lesson or handle anymore busywork assignments. I know the only way I can learn a language fluently is if I live around it. Unfortunately, I dont like my school's Paris programs, so I am going to London instead. Maybe I can at least perfect the British accent! re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

French. Not fluently, but I could hold an intelligent conversation. I took French Immersion for years, and did an exchange program in middle-of-nowhere Quebec.

I also know Cantonese.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I used to be fluent in Slovak and Czech as a very young girl, and I knew some Chinese and Tagalog. I really did- because my au pairs came from those countries and we had to speak those languages. After they left, I immediately forgot every word. When I was about 8.

I speak quite a bit of Spanish, basic Italian, French, and Japanese, and I can understand a few phrases in my ethnic languages (Tagalog and Slovak).

I believe...here's a rough translation- something like "They're all here"...something along that line. I'm not very good with it.

I'm fluent in American Sign Language- yes it's a language!!

I can speak a little Russian, a lot of Spanish and after next year, a little Japanese. I can read hebrew but not knowing anything I'm reading gets me no where so we're not gonna count it.

I'm taking first year French next year, and I can understand little bits and pieces of all different languages. I can also speak fluent Ebonics, but I only learned because I have a neanderthal of a brother.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

Speaking of languages... I just came across one of my journals from when I was a kid, and somewhere I'd written:" I want to be able to speak 25 languages by the time I'm 30." Obviously missed *that* deadline. Don't know what in hell I was thinking re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?.

I speak Hebrew fluently... I also studied French for four years and I can understand some of it, but I can't really converse in it.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I studied French for 10 years and German for 5 and while I am not fluent in either of them, I can still just about get by. I did a year of Beginner's Italian at University and I can only remember to say "where is platform 11?" and that's it.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I speak Hebrew fluently. I was born in Israel and lived there till I was three.
And I take Latin at school... it's a dead language, so all we really do is translate random words and sentences. oh joy!(sarcasm)
