re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

Adesso, studio italiano io, ma solo per passatempo. No parlo molto bene, may mi piacerebbe imparare. Ho trovato un corso serale qui vicino, ben marcato (non e molto caro). At New York, si puo frenquentare "Parliamo Italiano" -- una scuola brava.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I took spanish for 3 years in high school and it really did't take. But now I'm taking Italian in college (going into my 3rd semester) and I understand more Italian than spanish (Having spanish as a base probably helped) :)

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I've studied German, Latin, French and Spanish...and mastered none of them. I can still sing a couple of Christmas carols in German, several verses of Gaudeamus Igitur in Latin, can swear in French and hurl insults in Spanish,..but that's about it.

I *have*, however, retained the ability to speak the pig-Latin dialect of egg'll ...flawlessly.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

Oh, in the realm of made up languages, I SO win. I know ubbi-dubbi, jibberish, pig-latin, and a numbers code- all of which I can speak at the speed of a train. A friend tape recorded me doing that...I don't do it much anymore so I don't know how fast I am.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

Yiddish counts... at least I think it does (I used to be able to speak a little, but that was years ago).

Does 'Miami' count? They actually did a story on the news here about how Miami has their own dialect.... que horror! Basically, it's a mix of poorly spoken Spanish and English.

I can read and write Spanish (average to below average level) and can speak basic Spainsh. However, when I have a Margarita or Sangria, my vocabulary and tenses improve dramatically.

I speak Hebrew fluently. I've been studying at a Yeshiva since I was 4. And I sort of speak Yiddish.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I had three years of French and my friend taught me how to speak gibberish so no one else can understand you but you can understand each other. I don't know if she made it up or not but what you do is insert "uddaguh" in between every syllable. Its is a pain in the ass to type but its fun to speak.

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I'm a native Hebrew speaker and still remember a bit of French from school. I also know odd bits of Yiddish and Ladino from my parents and grandparents.

Bet no one else speaks Ladino. *snicker*

re: Anyone Speak Another Language(s)?

I used to be almost fluent in Spanish, and through the internet and books, I'm trying to teach myself American Sign Language right now. (I don't have time to take a class, unfortunately, and I know that's the best way to do it.)

I'm sure if I reimmersed myself into Spanish I'd pick it right back up again.

How is sign language different in other countries? For example, would the sign for "cat" be different in American than Spain...hence AMERICAN Sign Language.

I can speak a bit french. Not fluent though. I took french for 10 years in school. K-9th grade. I'm suppose to take my regents this year but since I was ahead I took it last year. Now I'm going into AP. (advanced placement) Not really looking forward to it.
