So, at the grocery store last night, a Mother is pointing out "grapples"--apples that taste like grapes--to her little girl. They make a fuss over how much they loved them last year and buy some. Well, my curiousity is peaked and I go over and pick up a pack and they SMELL LIKE GRAPES. I buy some and get them home and they taste like grapes! It is too wild. Has anyone ever tasted these??

Though one might think the grapple is a product of genetic engineering, it is in fact produced by soaking a Washington State Extra Fancy Fuji apple in Concord grape juice (actually, grape artificial flavoring) for a few days.

Thanks, touchme. It does taste more like grape candy than a real grape. Now I know the secret.

I have not eaten a grapple, but grapple rhymes with scrapple. Scrapple is disgusting.

One of my friends brought one to school for lunch last year...everyone wouldn't shut up about it.

I think they do smell like grapes, but still pretty much taste like an apple.

Yes, I like them; and scrapple, for that matter.

Why would you want to eat an apple that tastes like a grape?

Why would you want to eat an apple that tastes like a grape?

my thoughts also- it kind of defeats the purpose of eating an apple at all

I agree with ActOr721; they smell like grapes, but the taste is only slightly different from that of an apple. They're not bad, but nothing to go wild about.

Variety is the spice of life! It has the texture of an apples, and only tastes, slightly like a grape. It's something different, that why you would want to eat it. It is not a substitute for an apple or a grape, just an alternative taste.
