how would you find the amplitude of
y=2.5sin2(theta)

essentially:
amplitude = wave height
peak amplitude = wave height when the sine (or co-sine) function is maximized (i.e. equal to 1)

I have a wife and three daughters, so I know that when they get their periods, their amplitude increases. Does that help?
